Oh yes, it will be ready sometime this month!! 😀

Nice, Alex! Looking forward to seeing more of this bow soon!
-
I wish I’d waited until Gregg found this new wood (whose perfect camo pattern and colors have a lot to do with the way he cuts it to get that effect) before I’d bought my own Elkheart. But I was anxious and wanted the first production bow in that model. Now I may have to sell it and get back on the list again. If you back that photo off so that it’s smaller, as to replicate what a deer might see from 20 yards, they absolutely disappear. The darker one on the right is prettier, but the gray on the left is downright invisible. Can’t wait to see it in person. You’ll never be able to put it down in the woods or risk never seeing it again. 😆
-
It looks very similar to the “natural camo” limbs of my Kanati. When you look at the bow straight-on from a distance, it just vanishes. I don’t have the best picture of it, but you can sort of see it here:
My ‘Quick Styk” with high-grain contrast bocote limbs, has a similar effect. That’s why I’ve always liked natural limbs over solid glass.
-
Alex, I really like that wood on the limbs. I’m intrigued by these short bows.
-
Beauty. Congratulations and good luck with it. I’m sure you’ll be just fine. best, dwc
-
Alex, those are beautiful. Love the el naturale camouflage. Post pics when it arrives!

Just got this pic of my bow from javaman. He shipped it Yesterday. I’m on the road in Kansas City today, but since i have my new photobucket app on my phone, i couldn’t resist showing a sneak preview!! I will post many once I get it in my hands!
-
Nothing like the anticipation of a new bow on the way! Especially once you know it’s finished and in the mail. Looking forward to more pics, and a review once you’ve spent a little time with it, Alex.
-
Wow what a good looking camo bow! I look forward to the day when I get that call. “Hey T, can you come help us pack out Alex’s bull? He killed a huge herd bull with his Elkheart!”
That said, they would probably pack it out by themselves…Beasts!

Looks beautiful Alex. Can’t wait to see more pics!

That might take up a lot of valuable space in your NY apartment, so feel free to store it at my place in the Poconos… dwc

David, that is so nice and compassionate of you! I might take you up on the offer of storage room! I have to store an unused air conditioner to make room for my bow! Deal? 😛

Alex — What bow? All I see is a tree. In fact that’s a pretty uniformly light colored tree. I think the camo will be even more impressive, i.e. invisible, in the real woods with it’s various shades and shadows. There are lots of nicely camoed bows around these days but what makes this pattern so special is that it’s not painted or dyed on but simply the way this wood, specially angle-cut as it is, reacts to a uniform dark stain to produce its patterns and colors. You’ll also like the cool little–tiny but highly effective–string silencers Gregg has started using. Not that you’ll need them.
FYI, the elk are just now breaking up their big cow herds that have been camping in the open in green grass pastures for the past month … moving uphill and splitting up for calving. This is Carolyn’s least favorite time of year, when she has to walk the dogs on leash. They are good dogs, but with calves popping out everywhere we take no chances.

I never thought I would be much into bow collecting but I’m up to three now and only three years into this stuff.
No kidding. I fully, in theory, believe in having one good bow and being thoroughly familiar and proficient with it. But then the next one starts winking at me from across the table…
-
Bruce — Yes, or more tempting even yet, from under the table. 😯
-
Alex,
I’ve been in NY in the summer you’re going to need that air conditioner. But that bow really is a beauty. Enjoy! dwc

mikelee wrote: I seem to be out of the loop . Whats the scoop on the Elkheart bow ? I have a super shrew that greg made for me last spring , but havent heard of this one ? ❓
the elkheart is more like a shrew classic hunter than a super shrew: shorter riser, thinner handle, longer working limbs.
I will take pictures of the elkheart and CH next to each other when I get it so that you can see similarities and/or differences. I ordered my elkheart with almost exact same specs as my CH. Same length, but 57# instead of 55#
-
The bow has arrived! It is absolutely beautiful and perfect for me! The handle is just like my Classic Hunter’s, although it feels juuust a tad fatter, which doesn’t bother me. It is the same length as the CH, 56″, but 2# heavier, coming in at 57# @ 28″. Its different shades of grey, black, beige and brown resemble my favorite bird, the robin, which is nice. I do have that padded arrow here in NYC, and I don’t think I can wait til Thursday, when I go up to the country, to shoot it! Gregg Coffey has done it again!! Here are pictures of this gorgeous bow:

Very nice

Tex — You can find pics and details at http://www.twotracksbow.com/store/index.php?dispatch=categories.view&category_id=181
It’s Two Tracks Bow & Wool Co. The silencers are felted wool, top-end stuff at $12 for a 4-pack (for two bows). They don’t collect thorns or absorb water. I was hanging out at the Java Man booth at Kalamazoo when Gregg discovered them and wound up installing them on every bow he had there. Previously he’d used Cat Whiskers but got many complaints, like from me, that they just didn’t last any time with FF string. I was sufficiently impressed to buy a pack of Two Tracks and they’re fully up to expectations. With a well-tuned bow it’s all you need. They make some real pretty bows too, though I’ve not shot one.

My bow didn’t come with silencers! But anyway the bow is so quiet already! I took a shot in my living room, and I hardly heard anything. Just a whisper of a note, maybe around middle C !!:-)
I guess I will use woolie whispers from 3rivers. I trim them to make 3/4 of an inch to 1″ ball. It’s been working for me, and I have 2 pairs left!

I just put the String Scallops from Two Tracks on my bow and they are really quiet. The last string I got seemed loud for some reason. I switched to the old string and it was quiet again. I put the Scallops on the new string and I only get a dull thunk. Cheap enough and they arrive quickly and not over packaged.

Thanks for the info! I think I’ll get some

Alex,
I just took another look at those photos. It’s really nice. You should drop it off here to have it professionally photographed. I’m sure I can get it back to you by February…
Congrats on a beauty, dwc

Alex–an elk heart friend told me about silent but deadly, SBD bowstrings–owner builds them with silencers installed got one on “elkheart too” and I don’t hear a whisper. But then you have to remember that my ears have been shot out and Lin always is asking–were you listening to me?:D Any ho check out silent but deadly bow strings takes about two weeks for delivery.

I agree! I’ve been using SBD strings exclusively for 4-5 years! They’re great!

Alex, nice bow, those veneers are awesome. I’ve also been using some of Chucks scallop silencers, and they work, last, and at less then 7gr each, they hardly slow your string down
