This morning started out with a bang, or should I say ka-thump..

Had an early doctor’s appointment so that meant getting up earlier than normal.

Anyway, while on my way to the appointment I noticed a car tailing right on my bumper. It was so close I could only see the upper part of the ladies shoulder and head in my rearview mirror. I knew that if I had to stop really quick for something she didn’t stand a chance of not eatting my rear bumper.:x

Well as luck would have it I noticed a deer standing on the side of the road. Just as I was about even with him the buck decided it was time to run to the other side of the road.

Yep,, you guessed it.. I stand on the brakes, just not quite quick enough. I thought for sure the deer was going to make it until I felt the thump and heard the tire behind me squeeling.

All I could think was “Oh $#!#” so I shovng my head back into the headrest, stepping on the gas, and waited for the crunch from the rear, all the while hoping it wouldn’t be that bad.

Believe it or not I even saw the deer doing whirly birds accross the road and into the guardrail on the other side as I looked in my rearview mirror waiting for what I expected to be the worst.

Anyway, only acouple hundred yards up the road was a large graveled area. I pulled in to see what damage was done to my truck. When I stepped out of the truck was the first time it hit me that I never felt the crash from the rear.

As I started to walk to the front of my truck I noticed someone walking up from behind. It was the lady in the car…..

She was shaking like a leaf.

As she stood there she ask if I had any damage to my truck. I looked and couldn’t see anything that look out of place.

“Not a thing as best I can tell” was my reply to her.

Thats when she said ” I thought for sure I was going to add the final touch to a totaled out truck, how I didn’t hit you is beyond me”.

I ask if she was alright, but had to bite my toung to keep from making a snide commit about her riding my bumper.

Anyway,,,,, after getting back home I took a closer look and my front bumper is slightly pushed in on the driver side.

The funnest part to all this is after seeing that everything was alright with my truck I drove back to see if the deer was dead or what.

As I pulled off the road I could see the buck laying there with it’s head up. I figured for sure his back had to be broke. I saw that deer start under the guardrail back feet first, then do a complete backflip over it.

As I started accross the road he jumped up and gimped into the woods, all the time blowing and acting as though there wasn’t a thing bad wrong with him. I’m sure he thought “I only wanted to get to the safty of the woods over here”….

Guess that goes to prove mother nature made bambi one tough critter….

Sometimes the blessings are obvious and here it seems so. Glad all are OK and hopefully the deer also.

              Lucky Frog’s tooth?

Glad to hear you and your truck made out alright. Hopefully the buck can shake it off. Might be a good place for a treestand? 🙄

Wish I could put up a stand in that location. Problem is, it’s State Park land with no hunting allowed.

The last time I saw the buck, he was showing some sign of being rather sore as he gimped off into the woods.

Sure would hate to see him bit the dust. He already had a good six inches of main beam and a good set of forks for his brow tines.

                        Scout,

Since making my new bow I’ve got alot of testing to redo.

This bow so far has really blown my mind. I took one of the bareshafts that was shooting like a dream out of my other bow and it wouldn’t shoot straight even after cutting to the shortest I could shoot without pulling it off the shelf.

The only shaft I’ve been able to shoot halfway clean so far had to be built fom the word go.

I’ll be bringing life back to the threads in time.

                          Troy —

Outstanding — i do not have your experience — but I realize that each Bow/Arrow combination is different – — At least for me! I enjoy following your efoc adventures. With each new effort, we all gain new info which helps us with our own endeavors —

                          Thanks

                          Scout
