A while back, Patrick posted an improved glove that had the finger tips removed…
It’s something I had done for a few years, and I piped in that it worked well for me. then others chimed in that they were happy for the idea.
So I thought I would add my latest efforts with the glove. Instead of taking out all 3 fingers, I just clipped my anchor finger. This has 2 potential advantages: First, I have found that over time the leather shrinks, and it is hard to get good performance from the glove. I have to keep pulling the fingers back up my fingers… So now, fingers 1 and 3 won’t have that problem. Secondly, I am hoping that over the long run, the leather pads won’t get so wrinkled up…
which brings me to my new resolution. I resolve that every time I pay my quarterly taxes 👿 I will buy myself a new glove. I am starting to think gloves are like underwear. Of which I need to buy at least 1 new pair every year, whether I need them or not 😯
Anyway, here’s a picture:
Sure miss Patricks posts…

Steve said: “Sure miss Patricks posts.” I think we all do and certainly I do. A great sense of humor and never pointed at anyone else except himself … or maybe me when I deserve it. 😆 dp

I’d sure like to meet this Patrick fellow. Sounds like a heck of a guy! 😆
Thanks guys. It sure is nice to be missed while away.
I never thought of just clipping one finger. Too late for me to experiment with that idea on my current glove. Speaking of cutting fingers off gloves, Steve was the one who had warned that I need to stitch the ends to keep them from unraveling, and I really need to get that done ASAP!

Well lookie there, somebody’s ears must have been burning…
I have been using the single finger cutout for about 2 weeks now, and really like it. I can get the arrow in nice and tight to my face, and the third finger, which takes most of the stress, is holding up well. The pad isn’t getting as wrinkled up as it did on my 3 finger cutout version.
I found my shooting was really going downhill. I didn’t figure out for a while that the glove was to blame. Thus I came up with the old underwear analogy, which I guess nobody appreciated 😳

I guess I missed the original post that explained the justification, purpose, reason, advantages, for cutting out finger tips? Isn’t the purpose of the glose simply to be a life support system to hold the finger-tips pads in place? I’m not nocking it, I’m just clueless on this. dp

Here’s the thread that started the revolution 😆 :

I often wear my shooting glove over a thin mesh camo glove,so have a double layer there. But I’ve never noticed a problem, not to say my shooting is flawless! Since I anchor behind and below my jaw I can’t think how going tipless will help things. But then,Patrick has received no negative feedback from those who have tried it, but only enthusiasm. And I have some extra gloves so I too will give it a try. I haven’t shot a tab since I was a teen, but can’t see how it would let you get the string closer to your face, being thicker leather, than a glove that’s maybe 1/32″ thick? Ah, life is confusing sometimes. 😕

I wouldn’t mess with it if I were you then. I’m just used to using tabs all of my life and certainly wouldn’t cut the tips off my gloves if I wasn’t experiencing any problems with them. But that’s just me.

I picked up my tab awhile back and have nearly abandoned my glove. I may never go back! I’ve always liked those calf hair tabs with the wool pad between the fingers made by NEET. They don’t use wool anymore, they have a rubber pad now but I still like em.

Calf hair wears off too quickly for my liking. When using a tab, I used cordovan and nothing else. That stuff lasts forever!

Yeah, they do wear after awhile but the NEET tab I’m reffering to is more durable than the model that has the plastic finger separator. I wore the hair off a many of those during my compound days (before release aids)
I think they lose hair quicker with the monofilament serving on commercial strings. These days I only use hand made strings with B-50 serving and I have not had much trouble with hair loss except on my head. Maybe I should’nt let the string slap my head:lol: -
Steve,
My OCD is kicking in and I really wish you would cut the other two off too….keep em even please!:D

They need to add a “Like” button on this forum. That made me laugh! 😀
