        Question Fellas

When I nock and draw a shaft to measure my draw length, should I measure from the shelf closest to me or furthest from me? I’ve read both….

What is correct and why 😯 🙄 😕

        Thx as usual 😆

Farthest from you ( the back of the bow). That is the minimum overall length you want for your shafts so you don’t over draw and trap the arrow point behind the bow. there are other “definitions” but this is the most practical in my opinion.

Bowhunters are wise to add an inch, or even two inches, to that measurement to ensure that in the excitement of the hunt they don’t draw a razor sharp broadhead up against their bow hand. Ouch!

Yup – measure from the nock to the outside of the shelf (back of the bow), for the reasons already stated.

The Easton tuning guide gives some recommendations for offsets if you’re using broadheads and/or external footings as well.
