First day I’ve had to get out and hunt and it pours down at first light. I like it to be wet but I fear losing a blood trail in a rain. The deer are moving between showers. Saw a mature doe and three fawns feeding on acorns about 9:00 am. I’m holding out hope for the evening and tomorrow should be drier.

Our weather in Charlotte was considerably better today. I was in my stand this morning by six. Right at first light I saw three does. When I had an opening on a perfect 18 yard, slightly quartering away shot, I went to draw and my left elbow popped. They all heard it and took off running. All I could do was laugh. Oh well, maybe next time.

Good luck Duncan! I went out last night in the pouring rain. Saw 3 doe way off… Got nothing for my troubles but wet.

As always, if you want help dragging, give me a ring!

I’m glad y’all got to get out. I’ve been ready to go and now I have an awful cold and gotta layout for 2-3 days. Bad timing cause we’ve had rain and all is wet and calm out. Oh well, it is what it is!Good luck everyone and “pick a spot”!

Well today was beautiful out but I ended up helping the wife with something she wanted to do so all I had left of today was spent working on arrows. I’m never ready early even though our season has been in for weeks. I just can’t get excited until it cools off. But with a hint of fall in the understory and squirrel season right around the corner I decided I needed to get myself in gear and finish those arrows as I will have two reasons to get in the woods. Squirrels and deer. Spent the last light of today bare shaft testing my cedars with 125 MA3’s attached. Shot great bare. Tonight I touched up the cresting and will apply the fletching tomorrow night. Now to plan some days off over the next couple of weeks.

Thanks Steve, I’ll give you a holler if I need some help.

I’m not really heartbroken myself as it has been hot. Now we’ve had some moisture finally, the weather is turning from 90’s to 60-70’s and I am better except for a pesky little cough. So a few more days of recoup is not bothering me. Once again, good luck all and pick a spot!!!
