Hello, been reading posts here quite a bit but first time posting, …. so a friend of mine has a Martin Serengeti he wants to sell. I am interested in it, however I wanted to know if this bow is able to use a fast flight string? How do I tell?, if it is not set up for fast flight can the tips be reinforced to use the ff? Btw I am very much a novice to archery in general and especially to traditional archery. I am enjoying it very much so far.
Thanks for any help

If the tips have overlays on them, then you should be good to go with fast flight string.
An overlay is made up of extra layers of material at the tip that thicken it and protect the back of the bow from the string.
If there are no overlays on the tips, you could add them if you wanted to. There was an article in TB Magazine maybe a year ago about redoing overlays on bows. It would give you some idea of the effort involved.
Or… Ask your friend what string is on the bow. Maybe it already has a fast flight string on it.

Thanks for the info, I will do a search and find that article. He has a dacron string on it now, so no luck there.

Hey Turtlebunting; New also to the world of Traditional bows. I also have a Savannah, and love it. Didn’t know there where differances in bow strings, that might harm your bow! Whats the deal!! Regards Wade
