I went to a shop and shot a Martin Savannah, again, just to feel her up once more. I know the shop has been sitting on this bow, as well as most of their trad bows, fow a while. I can get it for $400.00, usually retails for about $520 on up. It would make a nice addition to my arsenal, and give me a slightly lighter bow to shoot before season….. Hmmmmm, decisions decisions!

I would usually tell you to take that money and invest it into a custom bow as I feel Martin is really overpriced. You can get a lot of bow for $400 from Bama, Maddog, Whitewolf, Rudderbows, etc.
HOWEVER, I spent some time with a Savannah a few weeks ago. A guy I know is selling one for $225 and he let me shoot it and I will concede that they are a nice bow. They shoot really smooth, have intricate woodwork, and are a cool design.
I was reluctantly surprised by it. I’m sure your local shop could use the business too.
Do what makes you happy buddy. You shot it right? 🙂

Oh yeah I shot it, only way I will buy a bow is if I can shoot it…thats why Im considering it. I also shot one at a Bass Pro Shop before and felt the same. I did just check out Maddog bows….now I dont know!! Damn you! LOL!! These Maddog bows look very clean and slim which is what I like. Excellent price too!

Well, I went and got my Savannah yesterday….. Was dark when I got home, but I still loosed a couple of arrows through her by the light of my security light! Storming like mad this morning, but looks like its going to let up soon!! Sweet bow, just what I wanted… a little lighter bow to work on my form and technique without having to revert to the recurve.

First day of shooting with the new Savannah bow. Cost of new arrow, about $10…..satisfaction, priceless! -
Homemade yarn ball… One of the many tips picked up from these forums!!

Ive shot my recurve and my Great plains with a quiver, but I like the light weight and balance of a bare bow. I use a back quiver for practice, and a homemade version of a GFA quiver for the field. Those are just Easton Game Getter 2016 shafts…same as the Easton Legacy just without the wood grain paint job and the higher cost. Didn’t see the point of paying more when I’m still trying to find the perfect fit. Once I do, I may splurge on the Legacy’s…. or not.
