I bought one as my first long bow in some time back in the early 90s. it was 55#@28″ nice bow i shot the heck out of it for years and placed well in many shoots before moving on to custom longbows. its a good durable bow that shoots well and will hold up. My Brother is still shooting it up in Alaska. they do generate a bit of hand shock but they are a nice bow for the price that will last almost forever. Its probabaly one of the best low priced bows you are likely to find.

Great Northern as some nicely priced bows too. May want to give them a gander.
The Martin bow does deliver quite the hand shock in my opinion. More than is necessary.
There’s a cool grouse hunting video where the guy is using a martin longbow:

is the ice off the lakes yet? looks like you’re a bit farther north

I had a Martin Stick, years ago. Don’t let anyone ( with all due respect) scare you about “hand shock”, with proper brace height, arrow weight and grip, hand shock would not be even noticed. I shot mine a lot, and hunted with it. Wish I still had mine, but I cracked the glass in the upper limb in a bow stringing accident, left me black and blue for days, just thankful it wasn’t my jaw or my eye! Enjoy the Stick! It’s a nice bow, and will shoot well.
