I decided, partly after reading the TBM article, to start making my own endless loop strings, for my bows. I have the materials, except the jig, so I made one from wood. It worked ok, but I will make a new one from steel soon. The wood flexes too much.

My first string came out fair, partly from the flexing, partly from my measurements.

Currently the bow is braced at 8 15/16″. A bit higher than I wanted. My question, is, in order to drop the brace height, with untwisted string, say an inch, how much longer does the string need to be? Is there a rule of thumb?

Sorry I cannot remember the author’s name, but the TBM article was a great one.

Well I re-read the article, and I see my answer. I also figured out what caused my errors. As I said it was a great article.

I need to pick up some steel tomorrow, and build a good jig.

I am posting this from my phone, so tomorrow I will post the authors name and give him the credit he deserves.
