I finished this side quiver for myself just 2 days before Missouri’s season opened on 9/15. I’ve been wanting to make one for a while now but couldn’t find the time to get started.
I like side quivers but I wanted to make this one versatile when it came to toting it around. So I studied on the problem awhile and came up with a ring-and-hook attachment system. This way I can carry it on my belt, or with a strap or in my hand.
As you can see, I like color and I’ve got just about the entire animal kingdom represented here. The quiver body is made from bison leather and the turquoise trim is deer. The light orange trim at the mouth is stingray, the dark orange piece at the bottom is caiman, the circle thingy is ring lizard and the “swoosh” is ostrich leg skin. I carved the hanging ring from a piece of moose antler and sewed everything up by hand using artificial sinew. It took some time and money (exotic leather is expensive!) but I wanted something that I’d be proud to have and that would last a while. I’m pretty satisfied with the end product.
Now I just need to kill a deer while using it…

That is some kind-o-quiver! What a piece of art.
As an old engineer, I can’t help but wonder if that antler ring will hold up. I am afraid I would have to vote against that piece lasting too long. If it craps out on you, you could make a look-a-like from PVC pipe that would last.
Reminds me of some indian artwork I bought while in Alaska many years ago. Same colors and patterns. Good magic in that quiver. Good luck hunting!

Darren,
That’s an absolute beauty mate! Congratulations on a job well done 😀 I really like the caiman skin.
Best of luck for your deer hunt.
