Killed my first deer with a longbow last Saturday. This doe came in about 9:00 and fed through an old roadbed I was guarding. She stepped out from behind a big red maple at about 14 yards as I came to full draw. She stood perfectly still as I settled into my anchor. Next thing I knew she kicked up in the air and I didn’t even remember releasing. I could see a hole about 5 inches behind her shoulder as she bounded away. She stopped briefly on wobbly legs before taking a death run into the creek 40 yards behind me. I could hear her thrashing and new she didn’t make it up the other side. It always amazes me how quickly a well placed arrow puts one down.

If you only knew the grief my wife gives me over that hat. Those are Hobby Lobby maple leaves hot glued on a boonie. Looks real stupid until November. Deer don’t seem to mind though:wink:

                                    I’ll add my congrats!

Some things I wear in the woods, I’d not consider fashionable, but they work.

Another trad “salad hat”… OMGosh! 😯

Outstanding performance ,,,Congrats. It’s a great accomplishment to get drawn at that 14 yard closeness without being busted .But you managed that along with a well placed silent arrow . Great job!

looks good to me, should be able to get some nice tender steaks and roast there.
