Just had a great day at the Bear State Archers Lake Henshaw shoot.

On the drive out my compound buddy was telling me about the new Tru-ball release he was about to get, for $280.00. I suggested form and practice was prob worth more, the old, it’s not the arrow but the archer theory.

It was very hot and tiring from the get go, my first 20 targets were mostly 5s with a few 8s thrown in.

At the half way mark I asked my buddy if he was aware of the hare and turtle story, he laughed and said not to worry as the mighty Bowtech would never let him down.

As we moved into the next 22 targets I found my form and some 10s and Xs and more 8s than 5s made their way onto the score card. Had great success at the, shoot over the back of the doe into the buck, shattered an arrow on the steel target at 26 yds. Our final target was the flying Javilina from 20 yds, in front of a big crowd of committe members and shooters. The Palmer longbow delivered a perfect heart shot,10 points and the Blowtech put the arrow into the scrub 20 or so yards away. Very satisfying to put a longbow, backed up with lots of practice up against a compound also with quite a bit of practice, but also with lots of gadgets and gimmicks.

Now I’m really sure my Mathews DXT can be listed on Craigslist. I was very pleased to see lots of male and female trad shooters out at the shoot, great day..

Good for you. Walter had a saying for this:

I didn’t mean to gloat or rub my buddies nose in it. There is no way he would read this as he is strictly compound, would not even know this great site existed.

But the number of times I’ve had to listen to jokes about trad archers not eating venison, or any meat for that matter, how my bow is just a piece of wood and a bit of string, just on and on it was just quiet justice to kick his butt on the level playing field, just great

Yep, a good story is a good story. Nothing wrong with sharing a success around these parts. No brag, just fact. One of my favorite sayings when I was a kid. Good shooting, dwc

yea i love 3d shoots a lot better now since i switch to a recurve from my mathews z7 i think compond shooting was all about judge the distance because if u was off a yrd or 2 u was out of the points when u was out 50 yrds trd. shooting is all about shooting and having fun who cares about the yrds it is away lets just fling some arrows i went to the tenn. classic shoot now that was a fun shoot

My friend recently switched from a compound to a longbow and just plain enjoys shooting more now. Nothing to do with what is better or more efficient or etc. He has fun shooting his longbow and was not having fun shooting the compound. Actually, after sighting in the compound he didn’t even shoot it much.

                    Nice shooting! Love 3D events.
