I am currently shooting Recurves . but would like to try a longbow. (sound familiar) Anyone have an opinion on the tomahawk bows by 3-Rivers .

I havent shot the tomahawk but I do shoot both recurves and a longbow. My sugestion to you is shoot as many different ones you can get your hands on. The grip difference between my longbow and recurve is significant enough that when I start shooting one of them well the other goes to pieces.
I am sure you will get alot more educated responses here than I can provide, good luck and shoot straight.

I wouldn’t buy a cup of coffee from 3rivers. But the tomahawk bow is as good, but no better than most other custom longbows out there. And yes, Bill is correct, shoot as many bows as possible to find what you want.

Good point lol. I’m not a big 3-r fan myself .However ,living where I do , if it weren’t for internet suppliers I would never have been able to acquire half the gear I have .{which would have made my wife happier ] Same problem as far as ability to shoot different bows. Maybe I’ll look at the Chek-Mate bows here in B.C .

I shoot a Tomahawk longbow and love it.They are fast, smooth, forgiving, shoot where you look and have no hand shock. You can’t go wrong with a Tomahawk longbow.

Thanks for the info on the tomahawk. Which model do you shoot? One piece or t/d?

I’ve shot a couple of them and I was pleasantly surprised with the speed of the bow. In my opinion it had a bit of hand shock but not terrible and I was being over critical I am sure. I have given one away to a dear friend and sold the other. I don’t think it is a bad bow and I have shot both better and worse bows in my opinion. The one piece diamond series would be my pick. The other was the desert fox. The friend I gave the diamond series too loves it and has harvested three deer with it now.

On the whole .I generally like buying from smaller outfits near home if I can . Same reason I don’t buy much from Outfits like Cabelas . But they do carry a good selection of quality stuff, that you often cant find locally .

I own a Tomahawk SS Diamond Series 55# at 28″ and I love it! It is quiet and shoots a 630 grain arrow with some great speed.

I shot a tomahawk while at the 3 rivers store this summer. I found it had some hand shock, but I am sensitive to that. All really small handled long bows that I have tired had hand shock. I just bought a Horne 3 piece hunter longbow and it has almost no hand shock, and I am shooting it as well as my recurve already.

If a longbow is to your liking, there is nothing wrong with a BamaBows longbow.

I’m a big fan of 3Rivers,,,never had a bad deal or poor service from them.
I also own a 64″ 45lb@28″ Tomahawk Diamond series Desert Fox which I consider to be the best longbow I’ve ever owned,,,not that theres really that much difference between most of the better longbows anyway, but my Fox is “mine” an we all know how that goes right.
Anyway,I imported my Tomahawk into New Zealand at close to twice the price that it costs in the USA and I’m more than happy with it.
