A collection of little bears caught on trail cameras, particularly funny, at about 30 seconds in the cinnamon starts to wave and describe how big Goldilocks was! I think that bear had been in some booze or something, he’s all over the place.

Very entertaining, Croatoan! Did you have your cam set for a shot per second to get that “stop action video”? Since it seems multiple bears are coming to the same spot, fair to guess you baited it for the cam? Skinny bruins this time of year. Reminds me I need to set out my second trail cam for bears. In the heat of summer they come to cool off in spring pools every midday, so I generally get lots of action. I take them down before hunting season as I prefer mystery and surprise to tech info when I’m hunting, just my way. Rest of the year, it’s fun to see what’s happening out there. dave

The spot is a big mineral lick I’ve been cultivating over the years, it gets a lot of activity from small critters, porcupines, deer and bear, even moose a few times now. I don’t actually bait it, just keep the lick treated.

The camera is a Primos Truth Cam 46. I have it set to take a 5 pic burst then a 10 second cool down. I used Windows Live movie maker to put the shots together in a stream and then trimmed the duration to .35 seconds display so they look like a fair stream.

Those guys are skinny indeed, believe they are all the cubs that the sows kicked to the curb this year and are really just now finding their way I guess. Our winter was rough and spring wasn’t much better. Still had a foot of snow on the ground through April. Been cool and rainy so far, bout the hottest day this year for us was about 77 to 79 degrees.

Here’s a couple fat bears for ya!

Those bruisers look like they’ve been eating lots of Whoppers at Burger King.

Great pics of gorgeous bruins, Jim (Croatoan). I can never get the light quite right at my bear set-up to get that quality. Here is one I downloaded just yesterday, after your original post here reminded me I needed to check my cam. Not shown is a family of bears, sow and 3 cubs, that is coming in almost daily, heat of the day, to cool off in the little spring pool. Same bear comedy every summer, different bears. First daytime lion pic I’ve ever gotten. Dave

And one more shot of the same family. Check out the size of the sow’s paw!

Croatoan – Outstanding. I’m still smiling. That’s quite the little dance they have going on there. And the Fatty’s, WOW, I’d like to see one like that come and eat at the berry patch I watch!

Nice pics guys. I just got back from the Smokey Mountains Park and the bears down there are causing a lot of problems. I accidently walked up on a sow with two cubs while backpacking (about 12 feet) but my camera was in my backpack. Wife was complaining on the drive home that she didn’t get to see a bear. About 10 miles from home a small one ran out in frront of us and she had to lock up the brakes:lol:

Wow David! Man O Man what it must be like to walk around where the griz does. We’ve got lions here too but I’ve not been able to capture any on film.

We do have the larges wolf population in the lower 48, they’re playing hell on our moose population though. We need to engage a management plan but get thwarted by people who don’t even live here every time we try to get something going.

                              Dave —
Great pix of the lion! Most of the time I have seen them, they are using concealment to full advantage, like in this photograph – it is as if they know where the camera is![ I think they do]Good thing they don’t hunt us very much or we would mostly get eaten. they are the best “stillhunter”.

Today’s cam pics, taken near the batch above from a week ago. Same bears, methinks, and a nice velvet bull though the top of his antlers are cut off, leaving a mystery about whether he’s a 5×5 or 6×6. Like him, no doubt, I can already feel the rut stirring deep in my guts.

This bull has another month of antler growth, at around an inch a day. 😀 I’ve re-aimed the cam.

Wrestling cubs. Don’t know what happened to the third one, and hope it’s OK.

Absolutely great pictures. That Bull only gives me more fever to get out this Fall. Thanks Croatoan and Dave for the sharing.
