As a new member and not tech savvy (50+) In some support from some members dealing with modern boyers. I have shot howatts, Martin’s, Pearson’s, and bear bows for 30 years. My first was a darton in the 70s I think. None ever had glass issues, at least not for a decade. I ordered a super cobra jet from rms archery online and it was listed as new. My new bears and martins have always been perfect. Dreamcatcher, Kodiak, and Savannah. When contacted the employee stated that’s just how new bows from Dean hogue come….with stress cracks in the glass that my nail fits in. Would love to ask him personally that one. Is this safe to shoot. My old bows don’t have these and I’ve never even considered this. They state they only sell bows safe to shoot. New…really…. Also had cracking sound on first three draws and noticed small whitish spikes under the clear glass running horizontally in from limb edge. Might eat this one I guess.

If the bow is making cracking sounds as you draw it, and it is not a take down bow, then it will likely fail soon. You are right to be cautious about shooting it.
I would think you could contact the seller for a return and refund.

RMA has a good rep, so it’s definitely worth a call to them. Best of luck and cheers to us older guys. Dwc

If it don’t look right …………………. it probably ain’t.
Next question; Is it common for an older recurve to lose cast over time with regular use ???? I have a vintage Damon Howatt Super Diablo that has always been point on at 55 yards and is now shooting about 5 yards lower. When I go get my Black Widow or Super Kodiak I’m solid in the top bale. Very confusing and I really like that Super Diablo.

“…Super Diablo that has always been point on at 55 yards and is now shooting about 5 yards lower.”
It’s trying to tell you it can’t take it anymore.

Martin;
I think that you may be right. I brought out my back-up Super Diablo as my now #1 bow and am keeping the tired one for my new back-up.
