Pretty much all my hunting takes place from the beginning of Sept. to about early Oct. This coincides with both elk and moose rut. Anyone hunt mid to late November? Am entertaining the idea of a late season moose hunt. Several good rerasons I see are:

        -Less pressure

        – Snow/cooler weather, don’t really like hunting when it’s 22C! Tracking is easier.

-Easier accesibility, as ground is frozen.

-Easier to tend to meat as it is cooler.

-Last but not least, nothing beats being in a wall tent, stove humping, and it’s -20C outside!!

        Thoughts??

I really enjoy whitetail hunting here in northeast Michigan during December for all of the reasons listed above.

Same here, but in New York. I would just add that I also enjoy hunting in NJ during the whole month of January “Winter bow” season, with the REAL Jersey boys!!:D

GOTTA HAVE THOSE SALAMI& MOZARELLA SANDWICHES!!:D

I prefer hunting the later end of season here in Alberta, mostly because it allows me to use the snow to “walk up” my quarry. Or should I say attempt to “walk up” my quarry. Nothing quite as exciting as following a fresh set of tracks through the Spruce woods with your senses straining to locate the game before it notices you.

                Alex

Folks don’t realize how good we have it! Between the Adirondack wilds and the unreal length of NJ’s seasons, as well as the insane amount of deer (and therefore bag limits in Jersey) we are truly in an archers nirvana, though true, wilderness can get a bit hard to come by in the Garden State 😆

NY Adirondack early bear early September, with big game in North Country winding down around first week or so of December.

Guys in NJ we get the bows in the woods mid September and can fling arrows to our hearts content until end of February! 😯

Alex Anytime you want share a Northern campfire, or a southern mozzarella sandwich, pm me 😆

The way I grew up in PA, we always hunted the late season. Usually started around Christmas and lasted 3 weeks or so. We mostly did deer drives with bows and flintlocks. I killed my first deer in January when it was -17. Awesome times!

Great pictures Alex !! Quite a selection of different types of camo in the first picture. I’m guessing you’re the youngest of the group 😕

I see most folks go after deer, what about elk or moose? Anyone hunt those critters in Nov.?
