Hey everyone, been a while since I’ve had time to post or comment anything so I thought I’d drop a line. Been a stressful time at work, we’ve been experiencing some layoffs of some very good hard working people so avoiding the axman has been my first priority this fall. First off, a hearty congratulations to all that have been sucessful this season. The photos and stories have really helped through this tough time, thank you so much for sharing! As far as my season has gone it has been very short but very appreciated this year. The few days I have had out, I have cherished! AND… I did in fact get one step closer to a fully sucessful transition this year! I managed to get to within 15 yards of a nice little fork horn and actually got a shot off! Unfortunately, my arrow struck a branch and just barely missed hitting him in the head. I was never so happy to miss a deer in all my years! But what a ride! I know my day is coming and I really hope to spend some time in the snow covered woods around Christmas. I hope everyone is entering the holiday season healthy and happy and the best of luck to all who are still enjoying the hunt!

        Dave.

          Dave,

Great to read your post. I truly appreciate your position at work. I’m self-employed but ready to lay myself off if I don’t get things rolling! My season is also limited. Between work and spending time with my family, getting kids ready for school and all, which is a great pleasure for me, my time in the woods is not a lot. But whatever minutes and hours I get, I really enjoy. Had one spike buck close enough for a shot, but they’re not legal. It was still exciting to play it out and be only 20 feet away from him. I have tomorrow and the early season ends. I expect to hunt with my bow during the rifle season, too, as I did last year. I have one deer in the freezer, a combined gift of the giving universe and the Chrysler corporation.

Stay on track and the woods will continue to provide adventure!

All the best to you, david

            Dave,

I’ll never forget my first arrow released at a deer, and it was a miss too. being away from the TBM campfire forum is not so bad. When you come back there’s so much good stuff to read! Enjoy the woods when you can.

            Preston
