I feel as though there is a little piece of me that is gonna be “un-done” this season… due to the fact that because of my new position at work…. and moving to a NEW area…. I’m gonna miss this season! But, “YES”…. my mind and my heart is OH SO READY…. I’m just gonna have to wait till next year! 🙁

I guess I will just have to read about all of yer hunting trips…. and imagine what it would have been like to be there with Y’all!!!!

            So………….. BE DESCRIPTIVE!!!!!!!!!! 😀

            Respectfully,

            Donnie

Oh boy…I WISH I were ready.

This little princess arrived 3 weeks ago, and everything from the labor plus the pregnancy leading up to it has been a rollercoaster of stress. My wife was on bedrest for several weeks, which really had me running around. I haven’t even had a chance to scout my public stomping grounds. I’ve shot my bow and made my hunting arrows, that is about it.

I did manage to make my first self bow, which was quite the achievement for me! Had I made it earlier in the year I would be hunting with it. I’m just not confident with it yet. Too late in the summer to make the switch.

On another note, I’ve been asked to be in Season III of Huntography, which has me both honored, but extremely nervous. I’ll be the only Stickbow hunter on the DVD, and the first one ever filmed for the Huntography movement.

I’ll be hunting with a wheelie bow friend on private land and insisted I would be on the ground, as stands give me the heebie-jeebies. The hunt will be on November 16, which is opening day of gun season. We didn’t figure public land to be a good fit with that in consideration. It should be interesting to say the least!

I hope I make you all proud.

It does feel like THAT time of year. God is great. Life is beautiful. I can’t wait to get back into the woods, as I am in need of some serenity. The deer are optional as far as I am concerned.

I am ready for season to be open but I am heading to Idaho for a mixed bag hunt in a bit over a week. I am pumped and ready for that!

Deer hunting this season on state ground in Indiana? Sure, ready to share camp fires with old friends and to skulk in the fall woods, but not worked up for that hunting. This year that hunting is going to be slow, contemplative, and peaceful…

Hope you all enjoy yours!! todd

Wisconsin deer and turkey season opens in two weeks and two days. My wife and I are heading up to our property this weekend to finalize a few things before opening day. In Illinois, our season opens October 1st. My friends and I finished hanging stands last weekend. Let the fun begin!

Hitting the woods tonight (soon as my shift ends at eight). Then I have three days to spend chasing Bears, Bucks, Bulls, and Grouse. Can’t wait for it to start!

I remember as a Scout how I anticipated our monthly camping trips during the Summer, I’d pack my things a week in advance in anticipation of the woods. As a young adult, I’d go off to the Sierra Nevada, sometimes alone just to be in the high country. Then came marriage, kids, and overtime to support a growing family. Many years of getting out when I could, but they were infrequent.

I’m not yet retired, but at 53 I find myself packing, or at least starting the process, a month in advance of hunting season for a two-week stint up in Idaho for some peace. According to my wife, this is a “vacation” that I take for myself, but I look at it differently. I’m gathering food for Winter honey, get used to it.

Then I come home, often empty handed, yet fully satisfied.

My name is Tony and this might be my first post but I visit several times a day to listen and learn!

Our season opens on Sept. 1 here in Kentucky. I’ve been using my recurve for the last four years since switching from my compound. Is a Shakesphere that I bought back in ’73 while in high school.

                          Good Luck to everyone!

Good luck in your pursuits,Justin….I still have to wait until the end of Sept. for our deer season to open, but I’m getting ready. Built the blind I keep up all season in my favorite spot. Happy hunting all! Wayne:)

                            ps Welcome to the site,Tony.

Congratulations LimbLover! I hope you get a chance to get out and enjoy this season.

I’m as ready as can be. All of our brush blinds are marinating in what I hope to be the last two weeks of heat for us. The woods are thick with poison ivy, ticks and snakes, but I don’t care. I’m just ready to be out there. 😀

NC Archery deer season opens in 5 days and we are drenched here from remnants of Isaac. I’m ready for the heat and humidity to be gone. But yeah, looking forward to this season. Good luck to you all.

Hey Limblover! That is the good stress! Congratulations!

I’m sorry for those of you that can’t, but it sounds to me like you guys have great reasons for missing this season:)
