        Read this article about a man who is the last of his tribe, his family likely killed by ranchers.

          Thanks – interesting story. About the time you think all the “real” wilderness is gone, you see a story like this. Too bad they can’t make contact with him, But, probably best for him. I didn’t realise there were that many indeginious unnamed tribes ( probably some more not spotted so far)in the amazon. On reflection however that would be the place that still had truly primitive people left. Wish the ” man in the hole ” great good luck.

          Having spent a little time in the jungle – got be careful there. All kinds of stuff has teeth – in one way or another.

            Steve, thanks for sharing that link. Neat stuff. Glad someone is holding on out there, if by a thin strand of sinew. It reassures me somehow, as does a remote peak I know I won’t climb. Knowing it’s there in its wildness is good for my soul, as I enter this conversation on my cell phone. dwc
