and I want to know if the game taken report/blood trail data form will be made available here on line, Ed? That would be the best way to gather lots of reports I would think?

Ray, that’s a great idea! I’m off tomorrow AM (early) for more medical test, and will be away all week, but I’ll try to get those sent and posted on the Arrow lethality forum as soon as I get back. Thanks for the idea!

Okay, Ray, I got busy and put together a copy of both the Field Record Data Sheet and Blood Trail Data Sheet, along with the instruction sheets/protocols for completing them, and emailed them. They should show up somewhere on the Arrow Lethality Forum pretty soon.

Those two files can now be accessed from our Download Library. The links are in the posts titled “Links to Ashby Reports” and I’ll put them here as well,
                Field Data Record Form
                Blood Trail Record Form

They don’t actually download to your computer, but you can print them. Dr. Ashby may have to jump in here and tell you where to send the reports once they are complete.

Ray — The one and only Hog Terminator Man I wish I could join you down there someday. Esp. when the skeets aren’t bad and the gators aren’t pissy. My elk pal Alex Bugnon showed me pics from his hunt with you, with alligators everywhere! Which tastes best? Pork or prehistoric reptile? Which is meanest?

Ed — thanks for taking time to post the forms, amid your hectic medical travel regimen. I’ll be packing both forms this fall, with a bowquiver carrying four of the best Ashby-inspired heads available, all of which will get shot into a warm elk, dead or alive, assuming I can find a 300-plus to cooperate. Let’s get well and let’s get hunting again! Dave

this might be a stupid question but ill ask it anyways…i shoot carbon express heritage arrows…they are 28 inches long…i have been looking to add some weight…on 3rivers archery i see that they have the actual weight tubes and the inserts with a weight attached…which would be better???also how heavy of a broad head do you think i can use???i shoot a recurve that goes about 52lbs at 27inches…i plan on using it for deer and elk…any input would be greatly appreciated

Any question asked in earnest is hardly a stupid question. Each of us have been thankful when we had someone to ask.

If simply adding weight to your set up, the weight tubes will be the way to go for a set up already tuned.

However, IMHO, “Better” is weight creating extreme forward of center requiring heavy heads AND adapters and often brass inserts too. In doing so, using the same carbon shaft size is impossible due to the radical effect on the arrow spine this weight up front creates. It will require a size or two stiffer shaft depending on your desired end results, to properly tune an EFOC set up to your bow.

If you havent yet read the last update recently posted on the Asbhy Report, I think you will find it interesting. There is more on EFOC and other weight factors than needed to answer your questions with more than opinion backing them up.

                      God Bless,
                      Steve Sr.
