Thats right, I’m going to give this bow away to someone. Hopefully Robin want kick it out for some unknown reason.

I’ve had such great reviews about the bows I’ve been building lately that I thought it would be great to give one away.

I don’t build to sell to the public. I only build for myself, family and afew friends.

Call me crazy or whatever. Still, what would be better than getting a free bow?

I know I’m going to catch flack from a few. I’m right handed:roll: , so sorry wrong handed:D (lefty) shooters. Maybe if I decide to do it again I’ll make one in the other hand.

What do you think? Would you like to have this one in hand come hunting season?

The pics aren’t of the finished bow. I still have a few things to finish and it will be ready. I glued on the tip overlays and bolt pads yesterday. Once they are ready (epoxy cured) and dress down I’ll be able to apply the epoxy sealent and the final finish.

The riser now has one coat of epoxy sealent on it and will get several more to fill all the grain. Then it will get the final finish.

There will be a few condition for eligibility. I’ll be posting them later.

You may notice in the strung up pic that the bow is braced a bit high. The string I had in the shop wasn’t the right one, but was close enough to use for limb tillering and alienment.

Normally I only cut the sight window to center. On this one I cut the sight window to 1/8″ past center. This should allow for a wider range of exceptable shafting.

Once I have it totally finished I’ll post new pics.

        So now the fun begins!!!

          Very cool idea Troy!

If the give away is allowed, how would one go about putting thier name in?

Also what poundage is she built too?

Wow, Troy. That’s very generous of you. I don’t have any problem with it but I’d like to see the conditions. Would you please PM me before you post them.

I’m calling a time out for a few minutes until I hear back from Robin. If she agrees we will carry on and I’ll give some more info.

It’s been a couple hours since PM’ing Robin and still havn’t heard back.

Now that she knows everything (or should I say when she reads my PM to her) hopefully there want be a problem.

If your interested, make your intent on here. Please don’t load up my PM box or e-mail with names and such. Just post it here.

As for the spec and being eligible I’ll be posting that alittle later.

Can’t give out too much info. Thats part of this game….:D

                    One thing I did forget.

If your in the lower 48 I will pay the shipping. If you live outside the lower 48 or in some forien country like Canada, Mexico, England, France, ect. or Texas (just kidding about TX:D) and are willing to pay the shipping I’ll be happy to send it anywhere.

Don’t want anyone to feel leftout.

Hello, I am interested. I am new to this (1 year or so) and have been using an old Ben Pearson Predator that I bought to get started. A nice new bow like that sure would be neat. I would even let my father in law who got me started use it.

Wow, that sounds like the deal of the century.. Very nice work on the bow.. I am new to the whole archery life. I do not even have a bow yet. I shot plenty of fish with an old recurve as a child and really want to get back into it but can not even think of going with a compound but a well built traditional like you build would work out great! When you get the details worked out, I’d love to put my name in the hat.:)

Sorry, I was out shopping for our grandson’s first birthday present. 😀

Troy, the giveaway sounds great. Anyone who is interested should just post here. I’ll leave the rest up to Troy. Have fun!

flash78 and mkr, welcome to the family. The folks here are friendly and helpful. Read through some of the active posts and if you have questions, we are happy to help. 😀

                                Troy,

Count me in for the bow! I’ll even tune up some UEFOC arrows for it! I’ll also give my grandpa’s old bear take down recurve to my brother so I can get him shooting traditional equipment again! He won’t have the excuse of not having a recurve to hunt with anymore:)

Troy that is outstanding offer and a beutiful bow. I hope who ever gets it, will be someone who is just afraid to take that first step into traditional archery. It’s always great to see one more person corrupted, I mean moving into the sport:P

Can’t say anything bad about TX.:D:D

I keep saying one day I’m going to move down there.

Never thought I’d end up in OH., so TX is really starting to sound pretty good. I can handle the heat better than the cold.

I started with recurves, went to longbows, for 30 yrs., and the other day I got my hands on a Palo Duro recurve, on loan darn it, and wow. Forgot how much I really used to enjoy recurves. Now I’m “torn between two lovers” :D:D

Looks like it’s time to put out the eligibility requirements.

First off let me say I couldn’t resist having a little fun while getting this drawing off the ground.:D

Yes, to some it may seem a little low to make “everyone” think they had a shot at a free bow, but hey it was all done in fun.

This bow will be given away, but the shooters that are eligable will those that we need to keep our sport growing. Otherwise our great sport will die of old age.

                                                          This is why,,,,

As you can see from the pics, this isn’t the normal bow I build.

                                                          It’s a 2/3’s scale of my normal 62″ recurve.

So with that said, here is the eligibility requirements for the drawing.

1.) must have a 21″ or less draw (21″ is the max draw range of this bow).

2.) must be able to handle a max weight of 21#@21″ (when your body is big enough to pull the 21″ draw)

3.) Must understand that this bow was made as a pass along. In other words, it is never to be sold. It must be either handed down to a younger member of the family or passed on to another young shooter that will put it to good use with the same understandings.

4.) Must understand that this is not a toy. In some states this bow is a legal hunting weapon and is very capiable of harvesting wildlife.

5.) Must post a picture of the the winner with the bow in hand so everyone can congratulate them for the win.

Hopefully everyone of you that have shown interest in the bow will understand and not hold hard feeling against me for doing it this way. I just couldn’t resist.

Again, parents/grandparents/uncles/aunts, please understand, “this is not a toy”. It is a leathal weapon and if cared for as you would any good bow it should last for years and make several young shooters happy.

Now lets rerun this and send me the names of those young shooters so I can find this bow a new home.

                                                          Troy

Hahaha! Man, this deal just got even sweeter. Troy, you tricky little bugger! Shoulda’ known something was up when the bow only stretched 3 tiles in the first pictures. My two older kids have their own recurves but my littlest guy is ready to be weaned from the fiberglass longbow. Please put Elliot Miller in the hat.

                                                              Thanks, Troy!

The bow shot great with the POC, but really smoked it with the GT.

The limbs core and wedge were Osage inside black glass.
