Maybe I’m just not lucky enough to see these guys regularly. I’ve seen a handful over the past couple years, but they’ve been few and far between. But this one, this one I spotted first. Look very close in the center of the photo.

Saw him first through the binoculars at about 40 yards. I was scanning through the timber, rolling the focus to see between trees and foliage in the distance when I spotted him. Now if I could just close the deal with that 10 point all will be well.

Awesome photos!! Owls are tough to find because their daytime activities are so limited. They like to hole up in the thick stuff during the day, it seems, and don’t often let themselves be seen. Congrats on your find.

              Thanks guys.
The wife got me a camera a few years ago, she was tired of my stories and wanted to see some of what I was seeing. I’m a rank amateur really. The camera is a 10.1 mega pixels, Exilim from Casio. I have to say I am enjoying capturing pictures dang near as much as I enjoy watching arrows fly!

We should keep a camera hand all the time. Saturday I had a young Coopers hawk try to take a squirrel I was watching just 15 feet in front of me. I saw him coming low through the understory like a fighter plane. The squirrel dodged all about like he did not know which way to go. I never would have got that with a camera but the hawk lit in a small tree and was giving the squirrel the eye. May have been a brief opportunity for a hawk pic…..

Sweet pics! That’s what it’s all about! I need to be better at carrying the camera at all times. So much cool natural things going on all around us. Keep it up everybody, I love the threads that have cool pics and stories like this…
