The WMA I like has trails which are not all blocked off. In the past there have been occasional dirt bikes in there, which didn’t really bother me, as they were infrequent, and didn’t mess the place up much.

But now the trails have been cleared (chainsaw) and a little 4by has been in there (which is illegal). The trails are all chewed up, and the wildlife are not using the trails. I actually met the guy with the 4by, and he said he had cleared the trails, his legs don’t work so well (so he can’t hike in there) so he uses the little 4by.

Then he asked if I had seen any wildlife. Didn’t have the heart to tell him that his 4by was too bright and noisy, and he was driving the wildlife away. Never gonna see anything but birds, and squirrels.

The right thing to do is call the warden, and get the guy kicked out. On the other hand I kinda see his point, at 66 some of my body parts don’t work so well either.

        What would you do?

Unless they allow handicap people to take 4 wheeled vehicles on the trail, he’s breaking the law and likely ruining the trail for everyone else. I’ve seen similar situations lead to entire trail systems getting shut down because of a few people who spoil it for everyone. It’s sad that this guy might have to give up something he enjoys but that’s life.

He ought to know better, That’s BS he thinks he can justify it. It’s public land. Not his.

Yup….He oughta know better. I guess he ain’t too bad off if he’s using chainsaw and such to clear trail.

I agree completely with the opinions expressed. People think they are entitled to do/go/take whatever they want. This fellow needs to learn a lesson.

                Call the Authorities!

Public Land??? Actually I think of it as MY land, since I’m the only one there outside of shotgun season. Which is why I asked your opinion, don’t want my selfishness to decide things. Thanks, I’ll call the warden Tuesday, and he can put up the NO MOTERISED VEHICLES signs, and block the trail. Actually it is not a trail, I believe it started out as a road for ox carts about 300 years ago. Whortleberry Hill was a popular homestead site back then (Watch out you don’t fall in a cellar hole.) I also think it is important to keep it historically accurate.

Grumps, I’m with the rest here. Big thumbs up on giving him the thumbs down. There are opportunities for us all within our own abilities. I’d need a jet pack to summit Everest. Doesn’t mean I should. Dwc

Hmmmmmmm Yeah there are a lot of things I can no longer do, didn’t think of that. Perhaps there is someplace else around where he will be welcome, and I can have MY WMA to myself. 🙂

Call the warden. Everyone’s legs hurt when they get older, including mine. You keep going, or you go somewhere else. Don’t feel guilty. Don

There are laws and if it is not stopped more and more will start to abuse them

Call the warden, after all it is not selfish to want others to abide by the rules of the WMA if you do.
