Hello All
I went through his awhile ago but never followed up, life got in the way etc etc etc 😳
Anyway, had a beautiful new longbow built. ( I’d rather not give name to not make a good guy potentially look bad…..).
I wish I could post pix ( my tech skills are slow at best ). Bow looked a little skewed when braced. It is a longbow, 52″, 60#@27. Looking particularly “off” one day I measured from where riser fades into limbs (one piece bow)
Going try to put in pics. 🙄
You can see clearly where the lower limb is 1″ difference than upper limb.
Is this normal? I’m afraid to shoot it. Should I be??
😥

Probably the best thing is to talk to the guy you got the bow from. If the tiller is truly off by an inch from even, that is probably too much. One of the limbs is probably having problems.

You’re using photobucket, right?

No Alex. Don’t know that. I just have the pix on my iPad 🙄

Here are jmsmithy’s bow pictures:
Photo 1: Here’s first of 3 pics. This one clearly shows how lower limb very uneven against the upper…
Photo 2: Though you can’t read the numbers on the bow square you’ll see the difference
Photo 3: Here you can see the upper limb clearly an inch farther from the string then the lower limb…

A total disaster! Return it for a new bow or full refund with no further ado.

I second that!

Surprised that one left the shop unless something gradually went wrong during transit, etc.

I agree with the encouragment to send it back…I have only built a dozen or so bows so I am no expert but…that there bow has some issues beyond just uneven limbs.

Bowyer has enjoyed a good rep as far as I know though he now has had to take on a second job, as many of us have had to do….I am seeing him Thursday or Friday …I’ll report back…
Thx Robin for adding the pix! I do apologize about my feeble tech ability – and crummy picture taking – but I think the photos illustrate the issue well enough 😯

Well, the bowyer’s good rep is for a reason! He took one look, apologized profusely and is currently building me a new bow! He said he’s only seen it one other time but he thinks it has something to do with one of the laminate layers being uneven at the fade out and he simply missed it!
Thanks for the advise folks! I love it when it all works out. Just goes to show one again, our Trad community filled with good people who do the right thing 😀
