The end of deer season around the corner, and I was wondering if anyone knew a solid place that was fairly cheap to hunt hogs in GA. I have been looking at some of the WMA’s, rather asking around about them, but I wouldn’t mind finding a farm to help out some of the farmers at the same time as having a blast with my bow.
Thanks guys,
Andrew

Actually, going to be heading a little south of you to Okeechobee in a few. I think there was another post on GA Hogs though, you might want to look back a few months. The gist of it was that any area with sign is good, you just might need to wait them out. Hope it helps. Good luck, I’ll wave to you on my drive down 😆 . Be well.

Fort Stewart proper or the area? Does the Ft. allow hunting and if so, do you need a safety course/permission? Up here in PA, at FtIG (Fort Indiantown Gap) you can hunt the base, but need to take THEIR safety course each year. Sounds like a good time though. Thanks for the update. Be well.

The fort stewart base here is huge. It covers three counties. You have to buy a special permit to hunt the base and they have some special regulations but you can hunt pigs all through small game season (until feb 28) and possibly year round, I think.
They regularly close certain units for training exercizes and you have to check in and out by phone every day.

Thanks guys, I live a couple hours from the Appalachian mountains in Ga, but about 5 hours or more from Ft. Stewart. I will look into both though and see where I can go from there. I hear the pigs near Macon are worth looking in to.

Ssumner, where do you live in GA? I seem to think the Columbus area? Chickasawhatchee and Hannahatchee WMAs would be worth your time. Both are in SW GA.

If you live in the Appalachians, there are probably plenty of good places near you. I’d wait until we get a snow and walk the local wma’s.

Joe is definitely right about Chickasawhatchee if that’s not too far from you.
I wouldn’t overlook the mountain wma’s on your side though, especially Cohutta. It is huge but I find it to be more rewarding hunting in the wilderness that the mountains offer.
