Thought you guys might like this. It’s a mural in my local town of an ancient Irish bowhunter:

I’m not so sure about his shot placement or broadheads but suspect there’s some artistic licence going on. And the irony is that bowhunting isn’t permitted here 🙄

Interesting and thanks for sharing. I just cannot imagine not being able to bowhunt!

            That’s pretty cool. Thx.

I’m guessing that the FOC on that arrow is somewhere around 80%.

I like that, many of the old illustrations show the hunter accompanied by a hound.

                  Ha! What a hoot.

Looks like a yew tree he’s standing under, and I bet that selfbow is made of the same material.

Yeah Prowler, I suspect it’s a homage to the great old yew bows from this side of the pond. And practically all ancient deer hunting was done with hounds. The crest of the next town over (New Ross) depicts a stag being chased across the Barrow River:

Love to see stuff like this. 50% of my blood is Irish and I have a celtic broadhead tattooed on my chest.

Love to see my heritage in action!!

Amazing picture! It’s a bummer bowhunting is illegal in alot of europe cause that was the main reason I wanted to get stationed in Germany, just to find out it is illegal and the countries that provide legal bowhunting are expensive.

Hey Etter, you might like this one too:

Some old cousin of ours on horseback using two Irish Wolfhounds to pursue a Red Stag. He preferred a cruder instrument though 😉
