Hello all,
I am shooting my fathers old wonderbow and am having some problems with finding out what I need to do to get this bow to shoot a little tighter groups, quiet it down, etc.
Here is the information;
Shakespeare Wonderbow-Laminated Fiberglass
45# 58″ Necedah Model X26
J71644M
Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.

I used to have one, was a good bow.
Other than making sure you have the correct brace high, nock point, and matched arrows to the bow and your draw (45# is @ 28″ most likely)….
I shot off a “stick on” plastic flipper rest, but try different set-ups like off the shelf, whatever.
Do you have a consistant anchor ?, group size is usually not a factor of the bow (if set up correctly) but rather the nut on the handle, or miss-matched arrows.
heavier arrows and string silencers will help quiet the bow, addition or removal of a bow mounted quiver can also affect noise on release, either by causing, or absorbing vibration.
Also, I hope you are using a dacron string, fast flight can shred your tips 😯

Thanks,
I at this time I am using what I think is the original bow string and it measures 6 and 3/4 ” from the back of the shelf (my side of the shelf) to the string. I have seen on the forum about unwinding or tightening the sring, but am confused about this as both ends of the bowstring are wrapped with red string and of course the serving string is wrapped around the bowstring where the nock is.I am shooting 400 spline Gold tip arrows with feather fletching and muzzy 125 grain broadheads and practice blades. I find much closer groups with broadheads rather than field points. (Don’t know why this is, but it is). I can get very tight groups +- 2″ @ 10 yards but over that the groups average 6-8″ at 15 yards 10 inches at 20 yards and at 30 yards, my arrows are in the straw bales I have around my shot blocker target. I have TJ Conrads Bowhunters Handbook on the way and have been told this is a wealth of info. Maybe I just wait

The brace height is typically measured at the deepest point of the grip. So, if you are trying to match a set brace height that is recommended, you will be way off. As far as twisting the string, one end of the string has a larger loop than the other. You will remove one end of the string and twist it while the other end stays on the bow. Twisting the string shorter will increase the brace height. I just recently made up a new set of arrows trying to increase my front of center. I bare tuned my arrows and achieved 25%. All the while tightening my groups considerably. You can find information on this forum about bare shaft tuning.
