As a photographer the solstice always had a special meaning to me. Spiritually, it’s a symbol of hope. As a photographer, it means more light is coming at the sacrifice of really nice light almost all day long.  My dad’s birthday, and now my daughter’s also, falls on the solstice ( often as the date changes year to year).  It’s one of those holidays that remind me that there is much out of my control, such as the earth tilting and spinning and making it’s way around the sun, and that I need to pay close attention to the things that are in my sphere of influence and appreciate them in earnest.  Tilt your wine, whiskey or water to the south and think grateful thoughts, my friends. All the best, dwc

You have a “sphere of influence”?  Dang you are lucky!  My wife says I get confused about such things.  I wonder what she means?

Anyway, I sure do like this shortest of days.  Somehow it always makes a good hunting day for me.  It’s gonna be cold and cloudy here today.  Just right.

          Thanks for the reminder!
