Not me. i’ve got 2 doe tags left and will be out every day I can until 12/31.

I think I may have the “sitting in a blind or in a tree” out of my system, but I will be chasing rabbits with my beagle for the rest of the year. I hunt rabbits with a lot of different weapons, but will be sticking with a longbow or recurve this year to preserve the chase. I will probably allow some kids to use firearms, so they can get a taste of success, but Daisy and I care very little about actually killing a rabbit.
Ha! As i type this, I’m thinking about Don Thomas and lions….maybe Daisy and I have stumbled upon “Poor Mans Lion Hunting”…substituting beagles and cotton tails for lions and Walkers….:D

I’d like to be out more, too, but feel a pretty good balance is in order. There’s family, then work, then hunting. It helps to have a couple in the freezer to take the edge off. I have two more tags and I’ll try to fill them, but if I can’t I’m way ahead of where I was the past few years.
The main thing is to get into the woods and feel the breeze. That is what I can’t get enough of. dwc

This is true. I guess that is why I am still a bit rough with balancing my priorities. It seems I think about hunting at work and work while hunting. Oh well. Thing is, I couldn’t agree more with:

Be well.

I have always had a high metabolism and must eat often or I start getting shakey. And the same with hunting. I may get my fill once in a while, like this year hunting elk every day for 7 weeks, but before I know it I feel the gnawing hunger again.
Consequently, decades ago I rearranged dwc’s logical “family, work, hunting” priorities to “family, hunting, work.” We only live once and too many of us fail to take full advantage of that unique opportunity.
For this winter I had to decide between my usual AZ Coues solo hunt and camp trip, or Kalamazoo. With gas prices so high and nonresident tags ridiculously expensive, I opted for Kzoo because I have FF miles, can room with a friend and basically make the trip dirt cheap compared to AZ. And my freezer is full of fresh elk. So I booked and locked on for Kzoo … and now, darn my old hide, I’m daydreaming of AZ and may wind up doing both. As I age, certain appetites dwindle but hunting hasn’t been among them and I hope never is. I hope to die either hunting or craving to hunt.

When I’m not circulating and salivating over all the goodies for sale, I’ll be hanging out mostly at the Java Man Archery booth. Come on by.

Tell Gregg that Stumpkiller says “Hi”; though I know him from muzzleloading, not archery.
We slaughtered three fifteen-month-old sheep this Fall and I arrowed a 200# whitetail buck on 11/03. Not lacking for meat. I’m not getting up too early or sitting out on rainy days, but I still spend time hunting.
Waited all year for this!

I killed two deer this season. It never happened to me before this year. Usually one has been it for me. My freezer is full, my Hunt memory bank full also, but I still can’t wait to go out again. Nothing like cold, wintery, hopefully snowy, late archery season up here in NY, and no pressure to make meat between now and the end of the season. Just the pure pleasure to be out there, bow in hand.

Killing deer in the snow is the best there can be! I have done it only twice down here in balmy NC. But they are my most vivid memories…
I have my freezer full too. But I have 2 neighbors giving me the hungry eye waiting for “their” deer… The deer haven’t been moving this week and I am not sure what to do to shake things up. So I stayed in bed this morning 😳
But look out tonight! I can never get enough of this stuff. Thankfully the season ends Jan 1 or I’d never get anything done.

I must be loosing it….
Havn’t had the wants to hunt until this week.
Been working on my new workshop and I guess that has been most of my reason for not wanting to hunt.
Anyway, this week gun season started and I’m out to prove you don’t need a boom stick to take one.
Until today I’ve had deer in the woods behind the house.
Today,,, nothing…..
Now if I can only get one to come into bow range.
