Never used one or seen them in person…but they do look good on their website!

My Brother has a Great Plains long curve. It is not longer made but is a recurve with a longbow handle. He loves it….killed a lot of critters with it.

Dave – I’ve heard lots of good things about Wapitis. And while I haven’t shot a Great Plains, I was shooting with a guy last weekend, who had a GP recurve. He let me hold it, and the first thing I immediately noticed was how nice the grip felt in hand – one of the first things I look for. I don’t think you could go wrong with either – it’s just a matter of what ‘fits’ you better.

Dave,
I have a Three Rivers Tomahawk longbow the 58″ SS and I believe it is made by the Great Plains Longbow company for Three Rivers Archery. It is a nice shooting bow I have been very pleased with it. I can’t speak specifically to the Great Plains bows but if they shoot anything like the Tomahawk’s then it would be a great bow choice…

Cameron – that’s correct. The one-piece Tomahawks are made by Great Plains (I looked into them myself a while back). I believe the 3-piece versions are being made by Ron Pittsley/Predator Bows. I’m surprised you don’t hear more about Tomahawks – they seem well made and the people that own them seem to really like them. I guess there are just an abundance of choices out there these days.
