Real curious about these arrows. Heard some great info about them. Has anybody have any experience with these?

          Hi Ronald;   Welcome aboard !!!

I’ve toyed with the idea of going back to shooting wood but am still flinging 2213s.

Please let us know your thoughts on the spruce once you’ve tried them.

What kind of stick(s) are you shooting ??? I’m currently on a retro kick and shooting a Damon Howatt Super Diablo.

Sitka Spruce makes very good arrows.

I like my arrows to be a cheap as possible so I don’t worry about losing or breaking them.  So the cost of Sitka Spruce arrows is, to me, the only downside of that wood.

Finding the shafts might be challenging. The suppliers I know have gone out of business.  Where do you intend to get it?

According to my copy of The Traditional Bowhunter’s Handbook, written by some guy named Tee Jay up in Idaho, which I believe is a county in Southern Canada; (To paraphrase, Good shaft.  Straightness can  be an issue.)  Since field point / blunt straight is not the same as broadhead straight,  it would seem that monitoring shaft straightness and making your arrows accordingly would make sense.  Then checking shaft straightness regularly would probably be wise.

I hear you there . I am constantly checking my arrows. That is all I shoot is wood arrows. They to just as accurate as aluminium and carbon for me. Maybe not for other people.  Wood bow shooting wood arrows off the shelf. That’s a great experience. Very enjoyable.

Have a older blacktail, about 96 , uses  dacron. Should shoot those Sitka spruce arrows good , I will find out tomorrow hopefully.

“Have a older blacktail, about 96 uses dacron”

                              ?????

Ok ……….. I’m a wee bit confused. Guessing that ‘blacktail’ is a bow model. The ‘about 96’ got me ??? 1996 or 96 lbs ????  Three of my shoulder joints popped just thinking about pulling 96 pounds.  1996 on the other hand I guess would be ‘old’. My Super Diablo was made in the late 60s or early 70s. Some of the old bows still rock !!!!

I made some spruce shafts for a guy several years ago but I’ve never shot them.  I use Poplar which, to me, is very similar.

If I’m going after a tough critter like a coyote I use my Hickory shafts.  I’ve never broken one of those.

I hear you ,so far I don’t have really anything bad to say about spruce arrows. Shot them for awhile and seem to be a great arrow. Will see here farther down the road ,how they hold up.

Never messed with any hickory shafts. Never shot any hard wood  arrows. Would be interesting, well ended up go back to my aluminum arrows, gone have to mess with them some more. Tried the tooth pick ,seem to improve.

                                          Hi Ronald

Sorry to take so long to respond , I haven’t been able to get to the site for a couple of days.

The Wallace Recurve is probably one of the finest recurve bows out there( gorgeous too). I am not surprised it shot great. I mostly shoot carbon arrows ( when I want high efoc ) or port Orford cedar for regular hunting….or just because..

I think I just might check out addictive archery and order some Sitka Spruce for myself. I think it’s time to try something different…

Andy does a outstanding job on the arrows he sells. So far a pretty durable arrow. Well they seem to work well with my longbow. Really happy with the results with it .great match . This longbow I have is a performer, it’s fast and accurate. The fastest I have seen or shot 52lbs  @28 .out performs alot of recurves at the same draw weight. Limbs are bamboo and yew with Makassar ebony riser ,handle. It is a Wes Wallace  ,Royal 66″ .

Sounds like a beautiful bow. I shoot mostly 50 -55 lb bows these days also…

My shrew Samurai is the bow I shoot wood arrows in most of the time. I’ll order some Spruce after the holidays.
