I just began watching it a few days ago and am quite surprised by how good it is. It’s really cool how conservation and natural history take center stage, above even hunting via the narrator. It’s also interesting to note how each time an animal is shot, the narrator points out the lethal capabilities of a bow and arrow, especially since the compound has kind of put the recurve and longbow in the same place of needing to prove their worthiness again with so many people again.

I’ve watched those video’s a gazillion times. I imagine I will watch them a gazillion more.

What’s neat is to read Freds Field notes. Fred wrote these notes while on the hunts that the video’s were made from. The book gives you more perspective on what you see, and makes it even more fun to watch!

Fred is my hero. I’ve read all the books by him or about him. I had the pleasure of sitting at his desk in Florida a few years back… Man it felt like he was there.

I bought his Archers Bible back when I was a kid and thought about how great it would be to get into archery. A few years ago I sold my company to Bear Archery. Sort of closed a circle of life for me.

            That is very cool!

I’ll have to re-read the field notes after watching them all. Good idea.

I really, really love this DVD set. Aside from being a Fred Bear fan, I really enjoy the way these DVDs portray hunting and the total hunting experience. I actually learn little things as the narrator explains all that is going on,things like the birds, other critters, etc. They are such a far cry from what passes for hunting shows today,IMO! I went on a rant already about what I think about todays bowhunting shows,so I”ll not revisit that… Take care,Lee

You guys just talked me into it. Been thinking about getting DVDs for a while but got sidetracked with upgrading my motorbike (summer is a double beveled blade for me). Clicking my way now to order!
