To bad he is dead. Was on a scouting/stump shoot today and stumbled onto this. Biggest set I have found thus far. Looks like he had a rough last year of life, what with two tines broken off. Maybe he ran himself to death during the rut?
Anyhow I thought I would share. The compass seen in the pictures is for reference.

Very cool find though! It’s not often that deer fatally shed their heads along with their antlers.

Great find! My uncle found a skull and antlers once, but we figured it was probably a buck that was wounded during hunting season the year or two before….There are a lot of trigger-happy fools out there that can’t shoot to save their souls.

Funny thing about this find is that it is the first bit of evidence I have ever found that bucks of any sort live on the property. In three years hunting there I have killed two does and seen many others, but not a single buck, rub, scrape etc.

Nice find Wildschwein! I’ve found a few skulls over the years, here’s one from not too far south of you that my daughter and I found while out hunting:

Awesome! How long ago was this? She old enough to do her own shooting yet?

Thanks. That was a couple years ago. She’s nine now, she loves hunting so I’m hoping that sticks. I got her a longbow last winter, we need to practice lots more, but hopefully by the time she’s 12 and can get a licence she’ll be good to go.

I’d get that off the couch before the Mrs came home man.

                            Very cool find.:)

Gotta love those neat finds. Did manage to find one large muley last year in December. It had some thick main beams and would have been a trophy for sure. I gave it to a friend.
