I use a Jon-Jan Multifletch left wing and was wondering what others prefered and why. I die-cut my own 5″ and 4″ feathers; 5″for 3 fletch and 4″for 4 fletch.
I was reading a discussion on Leatherwall about this and it seems it comes down to Bitzenburger and J-J…..:( Can I get alittle input, please?

These days it would almost be more difficult to find a bad jig than a good one. There are a lot of different models on the market, and they pretty much all work well. Personally, I use an old Bitz from the 50s that was my grandfathers, and a pair of BPE Pro Fletchers that I bought around 20 years ago.

I picked up a BearPaw Jig last year at Comptom’s from Kustom King and love it. It is a single jig and I use fletch tape for my feathers, so everything goes fairly quickly.

I too use an old Bitzenberger with left and right wing clamps- one of the steel plates fell off eventually but scruffing it up and some JB Weld soon had it back in working order. I’ve heard good things about the BearPaw, so will probably purchase one so I could fletch 2 arrows an hour! Tried the fletchtape on some 2018 aluminums but the front of the 5″ parabolic feathers refused to stay in place- don’t know if I didn’t clean them enough or perhaps the pretty radical helical I use contributes to the problem. Use capwraps on aluminum and carbons now with success.
Then again, who needs jigs? Check out Korean bamboo arrow makers on the web- amazing what 10 to 20 years of practice will allow you to do by eye! By the way, they shoot at 145 meters(156 or so yards) in competition!

I was considering what to get, and decided on the tried and true Bitzenberger. The decision was made eaier when I got it as a Christmas present. It takes a MAXIMUM of 15 minutes to fletch one shaft with Platinum Fletch-Tite.

Good choice, Patrick. The Bitz is what I use, too

I use a Bitz that I’ve had for forty years. Went to tape 5 or 6 years ago. Have had excellent luck with it. I always put a drop of glue on the front edge of the feather. Don’t know that it needs it but, it makes me more confident:)

                      Bitzenburger with fletch tite platinum.

Simple, durable, changes over easy from left to right.

bitzenberger with beyond bond and accelerator is the way to go! I also have a JoJan and the two do not compare!

Been using an old Bitzenberger here and see no reason to change – it is very adaptable, consistent, easy to keep clean of glue with a little parafin and some scraping and very versatile for any type of arrow.
