If you are new to the challenge of traditional archery, I would recommend aluminum or carbon. Use a shaft material that is easy to come by and consistent. Once you’re form and aim improves, you may want to build some woodies. It’s personal preference, really. I switched to beeman carbons 2 years ago from wood and haven’t looked back.

Order your arrows from three rivers archery or another traditional dealer and they will recommend a spine.
