Finally had a good morning to get out early and try to make it happen.

I didn’t see a single deer but it was worth the time. The nice crisp morning air and silent meditation as I setup in a spot I thought would be lucky.

A falcon circling overhead skreeing, and the scuttle of a fox that appeared behind me.

While I love the meat this is the real reason I took up hunting. Even hiking doesn’t give the same outdoor experience as being silent and letting the woods come alive around you.

          Yes sir! You said it.

Yesterday I was in the woods, not hunting just walking and enjoying the first day that had the smell of snow to it. A squirrel came by that must have been snorkeling around in some exposed dirt. His nose was as red (red clay) as Rudolph’s. He gave me a look and was trying to be serious, but I just couldn’t take him seriously 😆

Well said, Marc. I love hiking but have rarely seen much other than views and echos of my own thoughts. Hunting, standing still or moving so slowly let’s a new layer become revealed. It’s ironic that something we were once a natural part of is something we now have to return to. I feel blessed to be a hunter and to have access to the forest and opportunity to be there and listen.
