Hay i just was gifted a Browning Cobra recurve. It’s 50 in a d 45# at a 28 in draw. I normally shoot a 55 pound breakdown recurve. I really like the feel of that Cobra and don’t notice stacking . Does anyone have feedback on the Cobra? Thank you.

Back in the day, Browning made some fine bows. You can Google ‘browning archery company’ and get more info on them fading away.  Kinda sad.  I haven’t owned a Cobra but my Browning Explorer was pretty sweet.

“I really like the feel of that Cobra …………. ” Seems to me that that’s the feedback that really matters. I have a soft spot in my heart for the old retro recurves and a lot of those Golden Age bows will still hold their own with the new stuff. Sounds like you’ve got a winner; shoot the heck out of it.

          >>>>>————> One thing, though; Stay with the older B-50 type string material and NOT the newer FastFlight stuff. Older limb tips just weren’t designed for it.

Thanks for the message. I really love the way it feels and shoots as well. I just had some people saying it was to small for me. I would like to take it small game hunting . It’s over the poundage for deer hunting and was thinking of trying this season .

Excellent bow , yes take it hunting! My father used the same bow and really liked it. He especially appreciated the handiness of that model…

                  I also have a 45# Cobra l that I use as my 3D bow.

@Brent – I am curious to know the height of your nocking point. My nocking point is so high that it took me years to find it and accept that it was almost 1.5″. It looks weird on such a short bow. I suspect that the bow has negative tiller caused by de-lamination of the lower limb. Not only because of the extreme high nocking point but also because every time I shoot the bow I smell burned wood – like someone just lighted a match. Probably caused by friction between the laminate.

Except from that I love the bow and I think the smell of burned wood is a cool feature.

My nock point is a touch under 1″ I’ve had no problems with de-laminating. The more I shoot it the more I like it. It’s my small game bow or heavy brush for Turkey or deer.

Between 7 and 3/4 and 8 inches. Closer to 8.

If you look up the Cobra I in the Browning Catalogs from ’68 to ’72 on this site you will see the recommended brace height vary a little from one year to another but always with 7 and 1/2 in the sweet spot.
