Remember the dirty old hat thread? Where we had Yankees wearing Aussie hats, and Aussies wearing baseball hats. Well lets show each other what we look like when we go out in the woods. Do you go out in the same duds you wore to change the oil in the truck? Or do you have the head to toe camo that is waterproof/breathable/scent proof/insulated/air conditioned that cost more than the suit you had to buy for your sister-in-law’s third wedding? Keep in mind that the web mother is watching, if you hunt in the nude we don’t want to know. And your name isn’t Waldo, nobody wants to try to find you peeking out from behind the tenth tree from the left.

Grumpy, its only scent proof till you fart in it!:x

Somedays I go solids.
Some days I go plaids.
But often I go camo.
And sometimes a mixture.

PaleO done said a mouthful!
For as miserable cold and long a winter as we’re having, our traditional Oct 1 start can be pretty danged HOT!
I got some nice light cotton camo…tru woods…not made anymore. Most stuff today if you squint past 20 yards, looks like a dark outline of a man!
But can’t beat the light weight and QUIET of soft cotton 6-pocket pants… Cut the lining out of a nice “parka” I had in TruWoods… and it’s got POCKETS! 🙂 Layered, it works swell all season.
Even got into a Primos Archery Vest to not dig around in a pack like a “pack rat”? 😯

I hear the next big thing in high-fashion macho camo, sure to show up soon at Cabela’s and other hunting fashion purveyors, is the off-shoulder “Find your inner Divine” jungle look. You don’t have to shoot any animals as they all die laughing.

Dave,
For a minute I thought you were showing us one of your hunting trophies.

She is simply splendid!

Indeed, Jim! They were likely a couple! Is this the official uniform for the Ozzie airborne? 😛 Might get a bit chilly before hitting the ground.
I keep waiting for Hammer to wade in here and out-rageous us both. 😆

Darn you guys are to much where do you get those pictures?
I really like Paleo and his success.
Jim–on a serious note thanks for your remembrance of Bill Guarnere. I had the pleasure of hosting him in Quantico with a few of the Band of Brothers back in the late 90’s as I recall. We hoisted a few:D–He picked on me as the oldest person at that time 1990 to graduate from Ft. Benning Jump school as a 42 yr old Lt.Col. By then I had 10 jumps and I asked –so Bill how many do you have–oh 5 to qualify and then Normandy, Holland, and one more in Germany–yep I bought the next round for all.:D

Ah, Alex, you were doing “selfies” years before the term was invented! Clearly, you had a professional photographer with the elk photo! Cool hat. 😀

clearly the elk photo is the best of all! 😀
PS: your CD is on the way!

I like camo but don’t care for the long sleeve tee shirts.I don’t know if its me but a loose fitting button up shirt seems cooler in hot weather.Problem is I cant find one I like in a camo pattern. All seem heavy material. So this year I think I’ll go cotton camo pants and cotton plaid shirt. There is always the flip flops and loin cloth option but my brother once got poison ivy on his butt taking a field dump in the woods, so that’s probably not a good idea.

Plaid, camo…it’s all good. I have no qualms about mixing the two together. I just always wear a Buff or something like it over my face because I can’t stand putting face paint on.

Dave, funnily enough our band uniform has a bit of real leopard skin in it. Alas our regular uniform is a bit more mundane 😉
Mike, the honour is mine to claim such a tenuous link to all those first brave men in the airborne fraternity. I was terrified every jump through para school but I could always tell myself men had been doing it for decades before me. They had no such history, just guts.
Fella’s, I love all this wool plaid. There is a posting down south (that means cold here) in my near future. Maybe some wool plaid as well 😀

Sorry, posted that thread then couldn’t remember how to upload the pic Arwen took of me. Yes I got dressed up in camo to take her sledding, even took my bow for the pic.
May have to call my son in Salt Lake for help.
BTW: Audrey has seen your pics, and mine…I’m the most handsome. Although I am sure there are other opinions, I don’t care.
