That happened to me and a friend in Switzerland years ago while skiing down a steep narrow coulee in the woods. My friend hit a chamois, and I came right behind and hit both of them! All 3 just got the wind knocked out of us! That story still makes the rounds on the mountain! 😀

This wasn’t a any more fair of that antelope than it was of those deer:D

Not exactly what I thought the video’s would be about. But the question of fair chase reminds me of a video someone who shall remain nameless sent around via email not so long ago…
(Warning: Don’t watch if you are a serious cat lover or squeamish)

Now that’s a true situation involving fair chase. Like a deer to corn…

I read somewhere once that “ethics” are what you do when nobody is watching!
Otherwise, it becomes somewhat of a moot projective discussion that can change when, “nobody is there to see…”
I know I made choices in my past that I live with and will never repeat, but it’s part of the maturing and learning process. Amen.

Nice one Mike. I had almost the same thing one night pulling our groomer on the local cross-country ski trails. 3 deer came bounding out of the trees in front of me number 3 caught a hoof on the ski of the snowmobile. Good thing the there was not a number 4 or he would have been in my lap. I have had numerous deer cross in front of me while skiing so far the closest encounter has been 10 yards. Now here is my ethics question. If I get one of those old style Finnish ski poles with spear point on the end take a deer with that while on ski’s is that fair chase?:?

Might depend, in some locals, whether you were laying in ambush or in full charge.:D
What’s not ethical to some is ethical to others so it’s what you feel inside that counts.
To some a skillet shot feeds the family to others it puts a noose around your neck. But then again, there’s those that a skillet shot means nothing more than “I got the most”.
Was it Davy Crockett “Be sure that you are right then go ahead”? Make sure it’s right with yourself.
If never a mistake I made, how would I know I did?

Before deciding, I would have to see the sled. Was it traditional, or one of those new-fangled ones that gives an ‘unfair advantage?’
Good one, Mike.
