Anyone hunt out this way? I’m looking for a bow only, preferably traditional only, camp/lease/club to hunt deer. Family friendly is a plus! Hope to hear from you.

Camp Lejeune -
Navy sky pilot,
How are you sir? I lived in South Carolina all my life until about 6 yrs ago, I did a lot of hunting there. Are you at Lejeune or Cherry point? I was at Lejuene 82-86. I know you are in N.C. but give Keowee bowmen a try they are a club in Clemson S.C. Good people and I am sure they can steer you in the right direction. Clemson is fairly close to you and a easy drive. Most of those members are land owners and they love our troops. Good luck!

USMC,
Thanks for the info, taking time to guide me in the right direction, and for your time in the fleet. I’m at Camp Lejeune & do hunt on base occasionally. I will contact the Keowee bowmen. Those Clemson, SC folks are VERY generous towards our Marines and sailors. The folks around Keowee Key especially.
Semper Fi,
Dave

PS- Give me a shout next time you’re down this way -
Although my family has some coastal property near Jacksonville I’ve never hunted the area. As for bow only clubs, my guess is that since the area is a heavy gun hunter area there may not be any. Check the NCBA website for members in your area. You might be able to hook up with other archers in the area. As far as hunt opportunities, there are tons of public lands. I can vouch for Holly Shelter and Croatan National Forest. Both are vast pocosin forests and tree farms cris-crossed with logging roads. There are designated camping areas in both forests. In archery and muzzle loader season it was like hunting nirvana to us. Once gun season starts the dog hunters come out but you can probably still find a place where they are not. During Archery season and ML it is a good idea to wear snake leggings, there are some considerable “buzz-worms” in the area. Good Luck!

Camp LejeuneI hunt in the Robeson/Bladen county area where I live. I don’t know of any clubs around and I am the only traditional hunter I know of around here. I would love to hook up with a fellow trad hunter. I know of some really good spots to hunt locally.
