I would like to call your attention to Dr Ed Ashby’s new book , “NOW”
Not a book about Dr. Ed Ashby’s arrow and broadhead studies and more than just a Fireside book, “Now, …” is an amazing 350 pages of bowhunting and “bush-bumming” how-to, knowledge and lore, sprinkled with humor and bowhunting insights, told as only the Old Derelict (fictitious character ) can! Drawn from over 50 years of worldwide bowhunting experience these articles, written anonymously for over a decade for Archery Action, in Australia, are selected stories by Dr. Ed Ashby
They covers everything from his misadventure with Montezuma Beans and Six-Can-Stew to shoe selection for stalking, how to track game, how to practice for hunting shots, how to stalk, what skills define the successful hunter, making and using predator calls, why we miss shots at game and much, much more. Learn how an archer never known for his shooting ability became one of the world’s most successful bowhunters. Best known for his technical writings on terminal arrow performance, here the reader meets Dr. Ashby’s plain-spoken alternate persona – the Old Derelict Bowhunter.
It is interesting that Ed is donating 100% of the his profits from sales of “Now, …” to the Fisher House Foundation, a charitable organization that provides assistance to the families of severely wounded warriors, so that the family members can be with their loved ones during their period of recovery.
This is a great read!

I googled it and found it on Amazon. I couldn’t find that Dr. Ed was selling it from a website, so I bought it on Amazon.
It’s a great read! Very informative and insightful; you can tell he definitely lives this stuff! I’m halfway through, and I’ve learned quite a bit about instinctive shooting, and ways to practice to make me a better shot.
I definitely recommend buying and reading this book!

You can buy it through the gentleman who started this thread. His website should be in his signature. 8)
Just this once I am sorry that I have to make everyone abide by the same rules. I wish Ed the best on his book sales, but we don’t allow commercial posts in the forum. Who makes these rules anyway? 😉
Sorry for the confusion/mystery. Enjoy the book!

That’s correct. I don’t get involved in the book sales at all … and 100% of the royalties go from the publisher DIRECTLY to the Fisher House Foundation via direct deposit. I don’t get involved with those either!

Ed/Mom
Been reading the book for last couple of nights:D Lots of good tips and your rambles are entertaining. Any place in the states we can get those S. African walking shoes? I just took a pair of my barefoot running shoes–not them finger jobs just the flat soled ones and sprayed this rubber coating on them and wow great stalk this afternoon. Fox at 15 feet.
Mom–not to pick, but if all proceeds go to a charitable organization then, is there any commercialization involved?
You can order it on Amazon.
Doc—if you will send me a link to your book at- herdering@earthlink.net -I will forward to some organizations that may have a wider reach then this one. If that makes sense. If not Pm me at above e-mail.

Colmike, PM sent.
Unfortunately, the Veldskins are only available from small, local shoemakers and some taxidermist in South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Botswana. That’s a shame. It’s an excellent show for the stalking hunter, especially in thorn and cactus country. The original Clark’s Desert Boot was of the Veldskin design but the newer ones are not exactly the same as the originals.

Robin is correct if the site became a advertisement for every new product we probably would not come here.
To clarify the donation question the good doctor is donating all the proceeds he makes on the book to his favorite charity. On the other hand TuffHead when selling the book is able to purchase the book for less than retail so there is a small difference between retail and whole sale. This is necessary to induce other retailers to carry the book.Which I hope happens. If there was not a spread in price I am sure Robin would gladly have allowed the original post indicating where the book could be purchased. The web mother was a good sport and allowed the post as a book review which I appreciate.
I do not normally carry books as I had suspected and am verifying that it is not economical for us but will continue as long as there is a demand for NOW.. and probably beyond.
Dr.Ashby is my mentor (kind of different a younger guy being a mentor to a older guy:D ) and friend. I am promoting his book not only because of our friendship but because I think it has great information contained in it.….
This book also enlightens the reader to another side of Dr. Ashby that we don’t get to see in the broadhead studies and discussions. I bet their are few out there that knew that Dr.ED wrote poems .This book contains great poems about his thoughts on hunting and nature. These poems are part of the topics he discusses to illustrate a point. I do not normally get into poetry 😳 but these are great and entertaining.
There is a lot to learn from seasoned and experienced hunters like Dr. Ed. We should take advantage when we can.
Amazon is the publisher through their publishing company CREATESPACE. Amazon is also retailing the book at a reduced price almost the same price wholesalers purchase it at.
Buy the book where ever… you won’t be disappointed . Even when Amazon reduces their retail price by contract they still have to donate the same amount of Dr. Ashby’s royalty to the Fisher house.
Col Mike or any one else will be doing a service to get more retailers selling it. Contact local book stores and request that they carry it. It will help a worthy cause.:D:D As far as I know the advertising for the book is all word of mouth other than retailers that might carry the book

Thanks for you patience . This is a print on demand book .When dealers order the books Creatspace prints them to fill orders. I did not do a good job of estimating sales. Demand for the book was beyond expectations. Finally getting caught up and all in house orders as of today will be filled and shipped by Friday.
All new orders received now will be filled within a few days of receipt.
Enjoy the book! Good reading:D

Wojo, glad you enjoyed the read.
So far, the book has raised about $600.00 for the Fisher House Foundation. Need to raise a bunch more! Every cent of the royalties go DIRECTLY to the Fisher House (never passes through my hands), to help our wounded warriors and their families. Tell everyone you know that they need to buy a copy!
