Well.. I went out shooting last night at the local archery range. I was shooting for about 30 minutes and was really hittin em like Howard Hill.:D I got a group that was soo tight of about 8 arrows I could have pulled them all out with one hand. 😀 I thought I gotta take a picture, so I go back to the car to get my cell phone / camera and realized I didn’t bring it with me. 😮 Well.. I’m still walkin pretty tall and happy with my shooting, and I thought, let me try something…:?

The “tweak”…. it went downhil from there. 🙄 To the point of frustration. 😳 Now being the stubborn Scotch Irish sort that I am.. I say to myself, I am not leaving this field tonight until I figure this out. 😥 Now experience was tapping on my shoulder saying, hang it up for today and come back fresh tomorrow. 😉 But I just couldn’t I don’t like to leave the field in bad form. Two hours later… Howard showed up again. 8)

So when I tweak, and it doesn’t go as expected.. things go south in pretty fast order. 🙄 AM I THE ONLY ONE? 😉

often times I find the tweak helps because I have allowed bad form to creep in. the tweak causes me to have to concentrate and “relearn” form. Sounds like that’s what really happened with you if you got it back.

Steve, I haven’t drawn a bow for 2 weeks after things went south, evening started just like yours, ended with what the physio calls an ‘impingement’ shoulders fine most of the time and then it feels just like its about to drop out of the socket, very sore.

Mark, I wish you well! No. That is one thing I will not do. Like any atheletic sport you must listen to your body. If you body says stop I’ve had enough, than that’s it.

Just a suggestion….tweaking should be done on a blank bale; never tweak while shooting at targets. Just a suggestion, that is.

Ah Brett! Makes sense! Form and Accuracy are two different things and so is the practice.

Yeah.. what Pothunter said.. been doing this long enough to know better, and still stubborn enough to ignore it!

The main reason I tweak is my stupid glasses! 👿
When I started wearing them about 10 years ago they became a real nuisance in that my stance put the edge of the glasses right on my target, which of course makes it difficult for me to see the target clearly. I have to force myself to turn my head to the left slightly, which is still taking some getting used to. I’ve tried other anchor points, but they all have had their issues. So I’m back to the most solid of anchor points…and I’m staying there!

Most all other tweaking I did over the years was compound arrow launcher specific, so they are no longer issues. :D:D

Patrick… I wear glasses too. I solved that by opening my stance up a little bit. My only problem now is getting use to shooting with progressive lenses.

Hi Patrick.. actually doing fairly well. I had the optometrist make the glasses as small as I could get away with for bi-focals (John Lennon style). And they seem to work well.

Fogging up in the heat is another matter – but most stores like Cabelas and Gander Mountain sell anti-fog spray for scopes that works just as well on glasses. In a pinch put on some Ivory bar soap on your lenses and then wipe them clear.. that will eliminate fogging too.

By the way, part of that change was also a more open stance as well. One bad thing is that, after changing back to my old anchor point and incorporating a more open stance, I’m down to a 29″ draw length, but I had my new bow made specifically made to 60# @ 30″. That’s what I get for tinkering!

Patrick – While Progressive Lenses may be taxing, at least you can see through them. I expect Conservative or LIbertarian lenses are as clear as mud. Remember, you get what you pay for and there is no free lunch 😉

Been there done that too! And yes, it is dangerously threading on thin ice. “New” anchors I believe are just a quick remedy for some other underlying form problem. They may work extremely well, for a limited short period of time. But, I bet you and most anyone else that tries this eventually works back to their old reliable “natural” original anchor.

The nice thing is that I can wear my glasses and shoot traditional with no problem, but we all have our Howard Hill days, and then bam the arrows just seem to have a mind of their own 🙄

I look forward to a Howard Hill day. I am still struggling with form. I like the idea of the blank bail shooting. I have heard of it but now I realize the value of it. I am way too inconsistent with form.

Good news, shot steadily for about 4 hours Saturday and no pain just a dull ache Sunday. I hope your problems are sorting themselves out.
