Anybody cresting on carbons? What paint? Will paint pens etc work?
Thanks

I use white spray-on lacquer from home depot. It really does a good job of sticking and drying smooth. The first set of arrows I taped a line so that it would have a clean edge. But after that, I have just sprayed it and I kind of like the fade look.
I learned to wait 24 hours before glueing feathers on though. Otherwise the glue can melt the lacquer a bit.
I don’t add any other colors, so I don’t know how the lines would look.
But I can say that I have refletched a few arrows. And it was easier than using wraps. Cut the fletching off, and rub with steel wool and the lacquer comes right off.
And at 4 dollars a can, it is way cheaper than wraps. I have done a bunch of arrows, and the can still feels pretty full.

Duncan,
No experience what-so-ever. Just an idea. How do you think tape or shrink-wrap would work?

I use Rust-O-Leum, let it cure, and then top coat it with Minwax satin poly.

Thanks, I’ll have to try the spray paint and experiment with the paint pens.

Did a little research and have a tip for those of us who use single color wraps:
Went to a local sign making shop and purchased a 2ft X 18″ sheet of adhesive backed vinyl to use for plain white wraps, paid $5 for the sheet. This sheet will yield about 72 wraps at 1″ by 6″ so cost would be about 7 cents a wrap, vs. close to a $1 each average purchased cost. They had several colors but I use white for arrow visibility. So far they have proven very durable as my broadhead target is taking a single-bevel beating as of late. Since I have been testing various feather configurations, the wraps allow me, once have settled on the fletching combo that works best, to change out feathers by removing feathers and wrap together, then re-wrapping and refletching.
