Yep! i live right around the corner from you. (houghton Lake) I’ve been out scouting new areas all week. Kind of a July ritual for me. Been sharpening heads, building more arrows, making strings, fixing stands, making changes to favorite stand sites, etc. This time of the year i get the “bug” to get out there and start making things happen for the upcoming season. August is usually too hot and september is small game, last chance bowfishing, and last minute preps. So July is a important month for me in the woods.

Sixty-seven days and counting until the Sept. 15th opener here in NH. We will then have three months to kill a deer and a turkey. Small game starts Oct. 1.

Starting to ignore other publicized events during that time period, which is itself a welcome phenological sign of things to come. 😀

62 days to go here in Wisconsin. Been a cool summer so far with record setting bug levels! Haven’t had much time to get out scouting yet and fawn sightings have been nil. But a few ferns here and there are starting to yellow, promising cool and colorful days afield are soon to come! It’s hard to not start getting a little excited!

I guess it’s a bit of age, but I’m happy with a nice, long summer right now. That 6 month stretch of polar vortexes did nothing for me to want it back soon.
