Currently shooting 2117’s out of my 44# longbow, primarily because these were what I was shooting out of my recurve. According to some research I’ve been doing these seem too heavey of spine. They shoot pretty good but I just re-reading Asbell’s Instinctive Shooting 2, which has a specific chapter on the critical nature of matching arrows to longbows. What weaker spine would you all recommend in aluminum? Thanks.

Remember that many of these tools are starting guides. Their ultimate goal is the quote above. So… if it ain’t broke…

Now, if you feel that the spine is affecting your shooting even a bit, grab a test set. You can get them from several dealers like 3rivers. It’s whatever arrow you order in a few different spines. You can use the tools to “guestimate” which one will work, but ultimately, if “they shoot pretty good”, what more do you need? IMHO, of course. Be well.

Actually you’re right. Was testing some heavier weight points this morning (175 grain) and what a difference! Much more consistent groups with this set-up. I’m getting into this heavy arrow concept.

I’m shooting full length 2216’s from my 64” , 45# Super Kodiak . Total weight is 688 grain . 250 grains on the front end .Perfect flight.

It ain’t the fastest arrow , but super quiet with plenty of horsepower on impact.

Depends on what type of “longbow” you have and how far it is cut to center. I shoot a 2016 out of my 53# Hill bow with 125 grain point…. a R/D bow would be much different (stiffer)
