We are an archery club in Chihuahua, Mexico and there is a group of us who practice Traditional archery shooting with longbows and recurves.

We have figured out that the correct length for a new string on a recurve is 4″ less, but what is the correct length for a longbow. One of my buddies is shooting a SKY TROPHY longbow by Earl Hoyt 69″ 60#.:?:

        Thx for the help!

Typically it is 3 inches s

shorter . Best bet would be contact Hoyt.

I just checked Hoyt’s website ,,,,,,,,,,,,they don’t list any longbows ,,,,only recurves and compounds.

Once we have the right length string those of you that have a similar longbow, what is the brace height you start off to tune the bow. is it 6″? What brace height works for you?

Mine shot well at 6 1/2 with B-50.
