I have a love/hate thing w coffee during hunting season. I’m not going without since it gets my draggin’ butt moving every a.m. ..but man, my kidneys work too well and I gotta P every 1/2 hr after a couple cups. That said, I can’t say I’ve ever been blatantly busted either. What’s your experience?

I’ve relieved myself right from my tree stand several times and have not been busted by it:) Human urine seems to cause more of a curiosity rather than an alarm. I have thought of urinating at prime spots in the game trails I hunt over as the deer will stop to smell it and could help offer a shot:)

I’m the same Paleo, I like to pretend I’m a tough guy and have a dingo’s breakfast (a piss, a fart and a good look around) but if I have time I’ll always make up a coffee in my little travel flask, which has the same effect you described.

Learning how to do a tactical wee is a critical part of my job and I’ve done some awkward ones. I’ve read a silver lining for you guys hunting deer in rut is that they can’t tell the difference between your wee and theirs so they’ll be interested in the scent. Do you know if that’s true?

Same as you. I looove my coffee. It’s part of the morning ritual, a cup with the last of the stars. But yeah, the pissing can be a problem, but a small price to pay for such heavenly juice.

The problem has nothing to do with hunting season. I experience it every day of the year. On the other hand, that cup of coffee kinda gets the back side moving, so you can get that over with without the neccessity of a tactical poop which is much harder to do than a “tactical wee.” Beat solution I have found (as every construction worker knows) is to carry an empty Gater Aid bottle with you (they have a wide mouth), and don’t overflow. BTW. That is standard equipment in watercraft, wizzing over the gunnel is a BAD idea (remember ER, and the cops).

Being 3/4 Brit, morning tea is manditory, which I accomplish with a POCKET ROCKET, a SS mug, a tea bag, and honey, at 10:00 sharp, regardles of what the fish or critters are doing.

Dingo’s breakfast. Love it. Just added another one to the repertoire.:D

Couldn’t have said it better. 4:30 am can be rough without some liquid inspiration. I usually have at least a 30-45 minute hike to where I start hunting, so I just try to pound water on the way up the mountain and flush the system.

A Jim – the dingo’s breakfast had me laughing so hard I almost pee’d (sp?)

Grumpy – please explain POCKET ROCKET 😉

I would hike back down a mountain if I ever forgot my coffee!!!

Well, I’ve hesitated posting this since it’s rather off-topic (though Jim and I have had extensive conversations about the spirituality of hunting and traditional archery), but:

About two years ago my friend, Jim Hovind, and I renovated an old building here in town and turned it into a coffee roastery. If anyone is interested in producing some gourmet scent to confuse the cervids, Jim roasts a mean bean.

Gotta have my coffee. I usually have mine every morning on the patio while watching the sunrise wake the song birds. Best way to start the day.

During hunting season, I keep a French press at camp for my pre-hunt jump start. My urologist has told me to cut out caffein to help with my enlarged prostate, but there are too many other benefits from coffee that outweigh this ridiculous idea. My morning civility to others is the main one. 😀

                                A Dingos breakfast… good one.

Well I’m mostly all decaf these days. But it will still make you have to go. You know, liquid in liquid out. I’ve never been a strong coffee drinker like my Dad. Heck, I can accomplish the same thing with a cup of hot tea.

But I hit the stand a many a morning with just a cup of coffee and couple of slices of cheese toast in my belly. My uncle was not into the big breakfast thing.

What jpcarlson said. Any mammal urine including ours is an attractant. If nothing else curiosity.

Coffee is a must> Tried something years ago, found a licking branch on a well used trail and everyday I let go below that branch. Every day there were deer tracks in there checking it out. After that I let go when where I have to..

I might shoot wheels but I have a traditional heart maddawg
