        Hi Folks,

Taking a few minutes away, while the kids are happily assembling their neat Lego kits, to share a thought. Aside from this being our first Christmas home, just us, without having to go out for the day, the smiles on the faces of my wife and two children, one of my favorite presents is Writing Naturally, by our good friend David Petersen.

I don’t have any plans to become a nature writer. Writing professionally is way too much work. It’s really rewarding, but no cake walk. I did have this book on my wish list because I do like to write, when I want to, when it’s convenient or when the passion arises in a way that I just have to pound the key board. In those cases, I do want to be a better writer, a more clear writer. I want to write well enough that someone might finish what I have to say whether they agree or not.

When I found Dave’s interview The Good Hunter, in The Sun, December 2009, I was amazed to find written pretty much exactly how I feel about hunting. Because of that clarity of expression, I still follow his words and figured his guide to nature writing might be a fine place to start.

My new quote to share is found in the preface of this book and I’m sharing it because it brought tears to my eyes. Thanks, Dave.

Merry Christmas to you all. May your days be full of inspiration.

Now, back to the family. peace, david w. coulter
