I was looking at getting a bow blank to build with my Dad. I had came across one from Chek-Mate bows. There was very little info I could find. There was just basically 2 sites that showed they carried these bows. Well both sites I went to had nothing. I emailed both sites and got the same thing back. I guess the company was sold to the Bowyer then he dropped contact with pretty much all his dealers. Does anyone know if the place is still in business. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

My understanding is the same as yours; Marc bought the company and soon after dropped contact with a lot of dealers. I’ve bought five of their bows over the years from three different dealers, none of whom carry their bows today. From what I’m told, they’re still in business, although I have no idea how a person would go about buying one of their bows.

they were, and maybe still are, excellent bows at a great price. But I’ve heard far too many horror stories from their now-former dealers to trust them with my money again.

I cannot speak to their recent history as I have not purchased a bow of theirs for years. I have a three piece take down with 56 lb and 46 lb limbs and i love the bow. But, I purchased mine back in 1987 and have been using it since. Great bows from my experience.

I have a Beaver Creek long bow, and love it. Got mine back in 2011, and it took a long time! Was going to pull the pin, but the dealer I got it from assured me it would arrive soon. Wouldn’t want to deal with them now!

I shoot a checkmate and love it, but I would never buy another one unless it’s used. Mark really screwed a good friend of mine and one of the dealers that made Checkmate a name.
