Sorry if this is a worn out subject…I have an urge to carry my bow without a quiver (I don’t even need arrows come to think of it w my success rate..). Any experience out there with them, good, bad or ugly? It seems like a good way to carry but I wonder if you went over backwards or fell if it wouldn’t be prone to break or stick you with a loose arrow?

I had one many moons ago and thought it was going to be the cat’s meow.
I was on the Grand Mesa in CO. hunting deer/elk and all was OK until I decided to sit for awhile on a big old log and rest and glass.
Seems like there was something on my rear that didn’t allow sitting.
Never used it again for that reason.

I like mine. haven’t used it since I last hunted with my self bow 7 years ago. I like the feather protection from rain, but broadheads could be shielded with a better system imo. I remember duct taping cardboard on the side I didn’t use to take arrow out, just for a little protection. Broadheads will get wet.

Hear hear! Same reason I got rid of mine.

What are you talking about?
Grumps – it’s a type of back quiver. If you go to 3 Rivers Archery and the quiver section, you’ll see a pic.
Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it! Experience talks and I’ll go with the wisdom and pass for now.

Go down the page to the thread Quiet my Quiver–2for’s comment. Greg provides a great link to his blog and tutorial.
I got my Hill back quiver about 10 days ago and love it. It really is different shooting the long bow without quiver on it. And the folks at Howard Hill Archery are like all trad folks it seems, a pleasure to work with. I got the soft leather version so break in time was minimal.
More ice storms tonight:evil:

Let’s see a pic of that quiver, Mike. And I’m assuming you’ve ordered a “D” bow to go along with it?

I have to say I love my Cat Quiver III. Lots of room in the day pack, good protection for feathers and broadheads, holds lots of arrows and is easy to hang while in a treestand. I have hunted with bow, back and side quivers, but prefer the Cat Quiver.
Like most subjects Tradbow, it comes down to personal preference.

I have a Cat Quiver. I think it’s the Cat Quiver II. Funny thing is, for the life of me, I can’t recall what I don’t like about it. Nevertheless, I have tried it on numerous occasions and have gave up on it almost immediately thereafter. I think that’s why I keep going back to it. I keep forgetting why I don’t like it! 😆

I’ve used mine for small game and stumping quite a bit, but I’ve gravitated towards the Asbell style side quiver this season.

Have a old one the Cat 1 I think. The pack on it was not big enough and it was difficult to carry when packing a treestand. Now they have models with larger packs. There other thing I did not like was it was difficult to hold 2 different lengths of arrows(broadheads and blunts).

You don’t keep losing and re-finding it do you:roll::?

I have a catquiver mini that I really like. I have a couple bows that I absolutely shoot better without a quiver on them and the CQ rides nicely on my daypack. It can take some getting used to getting arrows in and out of it though.

Can’t answer the question directly, but will throw in for the safarituff. It’s the only one I used and I like it. Made the mistake of hanging it by the shoulder strap in storage. It got a nice bend in it. I was going to send it back but 3rivers put me in touch with the maker. He suggested i straighten it under hot tap water in the bathtub and if that didn’t work he send me a new one. It worked just dandy and now I hang only by the D ring as suggested and have not had any more trouble. Very easy to use in a variety of positions. Have fun. Happy New Years. Dwc
